Thanks @bentossell for hunting!
Hey Product Hunters!
As you know, integrating APIs can be very complicated, time consuming and challenging even for experienced developers. @a85 and team from Postman did a great job by simplifying the whole process of testing and implementing APIs. We at Zeroqode made an extra step forward and have put together a Postman Collections platform. It is a place where you can browse through hundreds of ready-made, tested API collections, which you can import to your Postman with 1 click.
Also, we welcome all Postman users to contribute their APIs to the platform so that it becomes available to the community. When a collection is added by a user, their name and web-site is mentioned on the collection page, so they will have a great exposure for their projects :)
By the way, this product is built entirely without code using our Product Hunt Clone template :)
We’d love to hear any feedback and we’ll be here all day to reply to your comments. Thanks!
Was registering for Collections via Github and it requires access to my private repo's - why is that?
P.S. It's impossible to click the "Contribute postman collection" as the page AJAX loads the next set of collections!
@scotty_bowler Hey Scott, thanks a lot for spotting those issues! By oversight we used the more powerful Bubble plugin for Github authentication and asked for the permissions we didn't need :) We just fixed that. Can you please give it another try? We have also fixed the "Contribute postman collection" issue that occured only on Safari. Thanks again!
@scotty_bowler@levon377 In a similar vein, I found it off-putting that the Github authorization flow shows the app as owned/created by a personal Github account (which may or may not have been created just for that app, idk). Is it not possible/preferable to have some kind of corporate Github account for this kind of stuff (makes it look more legit, whereas here I am half wondering what Onvel has to do with my personal info) ?
Edit : additionally, it's surprising to ask for my email address in the signup flow after getting it already from GH authorization flow ;)
@scotty_bowler@kevin_ferret great points Kevin, we've just transferred the applilcation under an organization Zeroqode. as for the email, for some reason we can't access users emails after they log in but we'll double check if that's something on our side or its restricted by github. Thanks again!
This looks very cool. We're big fans of Postman and Zeroqode.
Question for you: how might a maker decide/plan on which APIs to use in their app? Especially when there are are potentially a few options available that might make sense...how to choose?
@mcwbernz Hey Will, thanks a lot for the feedback and question! I guess the user upvoting system that we have implimented similar to Product Hunt would be a great indicator for other users as of which API to prefer :) And if they don't have a clue where to start, they could just browse the APIs in a specific category which best defines their needs.
@mcwbernz by the way, Will, I just realized that it's super easy to convert any Postman Collection into swagger format, which can then be easily imported into a Dropsource app with 1 click! Here is one link which can do that https://apimatic.io/transformer
