Steal this idea: What's a product you wish someone else would build?

Ever had a random idea and thought, “Someone should totally build this”? Drop it here.

This thread’s for the stuff you don’t want to build yourself—but really wish existed. Weird, useful, hilarious, oddly specific… all fair game.

  • Fine tune a model with all of my emails

  • Draft emails based on my previous replies

  • Give me a doc I can use to supercede the prompt

  • Take my money

@steveb Superhuman now does the first two. New Email might also be relevant?

For #4, you can send it to me. 🤑

Neel Patel

@steveb https://www.serif.ai/ may be what you are looking for.

Liberty Goromonzi

@steveb building it as we speak :-) stand by

steve beyatte

@liberty_goromonzi will be a beta user!

Launching soon!

@steveb It's coming soon, check out Migma.ai it's more like for Email Designs that understand your brand and previous designs.

Sophia L.

@steveb True. And my whatsapp / slack messages too.

Nora Lam

Noise-cancelling headphones that only block human voices. Keep ambient sounds but mute the guy on his phone at the coffee shop.

Aaron O'Leary

@nora_lam This is such a need! Especially on public transport

steve beyatte

@nora_lam would buy!

Rajiv Ayyangar

@nora_lam Love this idea. I don't think it would be that hard to do either. Machine learning has been quite good at isolating human voices for a while. You need some sort of programmable noise-cancelling headphones, though, so this might be tricky to prototype. This might be easy to prototype in a call setting. For example, you could create a video or audio call and then use something like @Pipecat to route it through an AI processor.

@nora_lam what if there's an emergency and you can't hear it?
Kranthi Kumar Mamidala

@nora_lam  @nuellaugochi  Got the same question!!

Parth Ahir

@nora_lam Why hasn’t anyone built this yet??

Nika

Teleport – I really do not like when I spend 5 hours travelling. 😅
Quite unrealistic at the moment, but it would be cool to have one.

Aaron O'Leary

@busmark_w_nika yeah this is my one. I think about this every time I'm about to board a flight

Nika

@aaronoleary Exactly. Just waiting for 2 hours at the airport is so time-consuming (not to mention that I have to travel to the closest airport ~3 hours). 🙈

James Cooper

@busmark_w_nika Same here! Every time I get off home, I wish there was a teleport to instantly beam me home.

Nika

@focusaur I would wish that with travelling from one country to another, and ideally to teleport my luggage too. Just curious how much it would cost. :D

Rajiv Ayyangar

@busmark_w_nika This kind of exists. @tonari is a life-size portal between offices. In fact, @gabe and I recently had a chat via Tonari between SF and Tokyo...it was wild!

Nika

@gabe  @rajiv_ayyangar Pretty cool. Maybe in a few years, you will be able to physically cross from one end of the world to the other through this "mirror". 😀

I have one: an animal language translator. I just got a new small kitten, and it's been meowing at me constantly, but I have no idea what it's trying to say.

steve beyatte

@feliciana_liu People are trying, checkout Fluent

Feliciana

@steveb Thanks for sharing. It looks great and might be useful for training my dog. But it seems a bit difficult for a kitten because it's too playful.😹

Derek Liu

@feliciana_liu I did watch a youtube video from Bloomberg discussing about this topic, here you go:

Could AI Unlock the Secrets of Animal Communication? | The Future With Hannah Fry

The video introduces a product similar to what @steveb mentioned. For AI, people are collecting data for that purpose, but it still seems like there's a long way to go.

Feliciana

@derek_liu_dev  Thanks for sharing with the video. 😸

Scan reddit and find posts that apply to my product - Draft multiple replies - I just need to click a button to send the reply
Olga Aleksiutovich

@harvanshchaudhary  @steveb So cool! Will you advise some for X?

steve beyatte

@harvanshchaudhary  @theonebroker I've never used an AI reply bot but people seem to like @Owlead

Olga Aleksiutovich

@steveb  I'm going to test it right away, despite the fact that they do not have a good look on PH @Owlead, but I found out that they are on the market since 2015. So they should otherwise make a second launch on PH.

Andres Vlaeminck

@harvanshchaudhary Would you be interested in a tool that scans subreddits of your choice so you can analyse reddit for marketing purposes?

Harvansh Chaudhary
@andres_vlaeminck it will have a manual work but can come at second place. one similar tool Linkeddit.
Brian Balestri

An app that uses a phone's gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer, and GPS to determine once and for all who's a better driver; my wife or me

steve beyatte

@bnbalestri Infinite TAM

Derek Liu

@bnbalestri I feel like the stronger the proof, the worse the consequences 😱

Brian Balestri

@derek_liu_dev 100% agree. Originally I thought of the idea when my kids were learning to drive. I want to show them about smooth stopping and accelerations.

A marketplace where you can sell the sofwares that you no longer use. that is, all these lifetimes that you bought in Appsumo by FOMO and that now accumulate dust on your computer. You could also sell those subscriptions that you pay each year because you caught them with a great starting price and today they are worth double, but you and I know that you do not even go to see what is new. Well, that, a place to buy and sell sofwares, licenses and subscriptions that you no longer use.
Siddharth Pereira
@jordi_gango an after-market for digital goods would be so good.
Scott Kennedy

@jordi_gango Ooo, you're onto something.

steve beyatte

@jordi_gango If you look at the wild world of AppSumo / LTD Facebook groups, you'll find this :-)

Raghu_Rtr

Some product that can help people do marketing at the early stage

steve beyatte

@weblancerdev_ What kind of marketing? There are a ton of products that target this niche

Raghu_Rtr

@steveb for any product bcs there are few set of things that are common for all of these

Sophia L.

@weblancerdev_ Check out Aha. It's the 2nd product of the month last month (2nd I think).

Neel Patel

"Make me better" AI - that guides me to become better at each area of life.

Rohan Gayen

@neelptl2602 Each area such as? As a generalist how do you think about specialization?

David Conelly Orellana

Oh man, I have one.

Have you tried opening bank accounts and a payment gateway for a new company? I hate spending hours doing KYCs, when I've already made dozens.

If there was a software where I can upload all my documents just once, and then it gets sent to all the institutions that I want automatically... TAKE.MY.MONEY

Aaron O'Leary

@david_conelly Yeah, banking in general needs a serious dose of automation. I remember moving to England and even trying to open a personal one was hell

Pat Meeker

A realtime map of available parking spots at Costco

Parth Ahir

Okay but seriously… why hasn’t anyone built this yet?

I don’t need another AI tool that writes emails or organizes my day—I need one that just says:

“Yo, cancel that meeting. You’re good. Go outside and vibe.”

Like a Reverse To-Do List.
It looks at my calendar, my energy, maybe the weather too—and tells me what not to do today. 😅

Dumb idea or genius? Someone please build this. I’ll be first in line to use it.

Information Cocoon Detection Plugin:

Social media these days seems to only push us content that interests us, which is certainly addictive, but sometimes I reflect on whether this is too centralized, causing me to not learn about other areas. But when I do want to read something else, I don't know where to start.

It would be great if this plugin could detect this and randomly disrupt my pushes for a while, would be great to plan for!

Rohit Srivastwa
- A browser plugin with login. - user while browsing my app comment in place where they want to give a feedback - all feedback collected at backend with username, screenshot, comment, feedback - leaderboard at the backend to see who submitted how many feedbacks
Venkatesh Nune

@rohit11 Could you pls explain more in detail?

Rohit Srivastwa
@venkatesh_nune1 • A browser plugin where users log in to submit direct, in-page feedback while browsing a web application • Users click anywhere on a page, add comments, and the tool auto-captures URL, screenshot, and feedback. • All submissions are stored in a central backend, mapped to usernames for easy review. • A leaderboard tracks and displays top contributors to drive engagement and healthy competition. • Helps product managers, designers, developers, QA teams collect real-time, visual, contextual feedback. • Reduces long email chains, vague feedback, and miscommunication in product iterations.
steve beyatte

@venkatesh_nune1  @rohit11 What would this accomplish? Can't you do this in Figma or using something like Loom if browsing an actual site?

Julie Bestry, CPO®

A central dashboard (vaguely similar to a financial dashboard) connected to all forms of interpersonal communication (email, texting, Slack, Telegram, social media DMs, transcribed voicemails, etc.) so you could view and respond to any message from one screen and maybe even drag-and-drop an inbound message from its original platform to another for replying.

If you were waiting for a message from Joe Shmo and didn't know how he'd try to reach out, you could have a saved search that would check for new messages from him (and any other saved search inquiries) and alert you when important messages had arrived. Otherwise, you could skip all other notifications and do your deep work unless Joe Shmo, your spouse, or your kids' school was contacting you.

steve beyatte

@proforganizer https://texts.com/ gets close to this I believe...

Julie Bestry, CPO®

@steveb It's a good start. I remember when this was launched, and because it's backed by Automattic, I have some faith in their ability to expand and have more of the connections and features I'm seeking. Thanks for the reminder, as they've improved upon things since I first heard about them.

Olga Aleksiutovich

SEO positioning and followers acquisition (2-in-1) tool for blogs, like Medium.

Siddharth Pereira
@theonebroker Tell me more. What’s the problem and proposal here?
Olga Aleksiutovich

@siddharthpereira 1. Medium is not easy for a follower acquisition. Meanwhile, I am posting the content through the publishing community (Coinmonks, Capital for example) for a better visibility, I am straggling a lot for getting new followers. 2. I noticed that Medium articles in general have a good SEO positioning in Google, in some of the cases even better than Binance Square, X, ect.

So it would be interesting to solve these two issues in one tool and not have to switch from different tools.

If you are reading physical books in a language that is not your native one, usually you dont know some words. Picking up the phone every time you want to know the meaning and google translate it is just exhausting. I want a mini digital glass that fits to my pointer finger. Every time i dont know the word i just want to tap the word i dont know with my finger who was that glass and see the answer. That would be the most useful thing for us readers. Build it, i can pay up to 1,000$ for it :P

Siddharth Pereira
@cryptosymposium isn’t this what “Look Up” on ios does?
Siddharth Pereira
An AI that instead of being reactive starts becoming proactively responsible for looking at mistakes I’m making and then tell me don’t do it.
Ilan Leibovich

Product Hunt for Vibe Coding.

I mean, I can probably build this with a few prompts but it needs some heavy marketing.

Ilan Leibovich

@steveb it’s only for Lovable products, though. They should have tried and claim ownership on this whole movement and made it for all tools IMO.

A windows program similar to Recall that does not store screenshots. Tried screenpipe but it did not capture remote desktop sessions.
