Hello, Product Hunt friends! 👋 It’s Raul & the TypingDNA team, excited to share with you our latest product launch!! 🎉 🥳 Let me introduce you to TypingDNA ActiveLock: a simple app that continuously authenticates you as you type on your keyboard, keeping unauthorized users out of your computer. WHAT IS TYPINGDNA ACTIVELOCK? With millions of people now working remotely, ensuring that only authorized users can access their company computers is a growing concern for every business (and security team). So to help keep sensitive data out of harm's way, we built a new breed of security technology that protects the entire device with typing biometrics-based security! This means as you type on your computer, you’re continuously authenticating yourself — proving your identity with every keystroke. 🔄 Continuous authentication ActiveLock continuously authenticates you by the way you type. If a stranger tries to use your computer, ActiveLock will lock the device to protect your data. 🌎 Built for modern work With millions of us working remotely, ActiveLock was built to keep unauthorized users out of company computers & reduce work-from-home security risks. 🙈 Privacy-focused design We take your privacy seriously. ActiveLock analyzes HOW you type, never WHAT you type — right on your device. 🤓 Fun fact: Did you know even if you had no Internet connection, ActiveLock will still continuously authenticate your device, uninterrupted? That’s because typing data does not leave your computer or gets processed in the cloud for authentication. IS ACTIVELOCK FREE? ActiveLock was built for enterprise security to keep company devices safe. But TODAY, we’re making our typing biometrics technology available to anyone in the PH community who wants to test this technology, and experience the future of workforce security. **The complimentary ActiveLock license is free for non-commercial use so you can evaluate it and understand how the technology works. If you need additional licenses, or have any questions, just let us know and we’ll get you set up. And if you want to see a comparison of features in the free vs commercial license: https://www.typingdna.com/active... ⏳ HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECOGNIZE MY TYPING? Once you download the ActiveLock app, keep an eye on the ‘Status’ bar: 🤖 In the first 1-2 days of typing, ActiveLock will run in training mode as it learns your typing style. For the best experience, it’s important that you’re the only person typing during this training time. 🏁 Once training is completed (roughly 2000 words), you’ll see the Status bar switch from “Training” to “Active” mode. 🛡️ You’re all set! Your computer is now continuously authenticated with typing biometrics — blocking unauthorized users if the typing pattern fails to match the rightful owner of the device. 👉 WHO WE ARE: At TypingDNA, we authenticate people by how they type. We’re a proud Techstars NYC’18 alum, backed by Gradient Ventures (Google’s AI-focused fund). Our mission is to improve security without compromising user convenience with our suite of Continuous Authentication and 2FA products. 🥇 TWO-TIME PRODUCT OF THE DAY WINNERS: We’re super thankful for the PH community’s support we’ve received over the years! 🙌 You’ve honored us with Product of the Day for TypingDNA Authenticator, a free authenticator that worked inside the Chrome browser and used typing patterns to secure OTPs. And most recently, for TypingDNA Focus, the first app to predict your mood based on how you type. 📅 OUR PLAN FOR TODAY: We’re going to be active on Product Hunt all day long! So if you have any questions, or want to leave feedback, we’re here for you.

I've been using ActiveLock on my laptop for a while, and it's AMAZING. At all the events we went to with TypingDNA this past year, we have demoed it to people on the event floor, and they are amazed to see how this app blocks them after they type 1-2 sentences. It instantly makes sense to people who realize how this works after they experience the demo. This is a must-have if you want to protect your computer from being used by others - especially by companies that want to ensure that their remote workforce is adequately secured! We are here all day and looking forward to answering your curious questions.

@tamascristian The feedback in person is AMAZING indeed!

Interesting concept, congrats on the launch!
CristianT
@bala_asodu Thank you, we are doing our best to keep people safe in a non-invasive manner using something they already do - type.
Toma Rareş
Cool product, congrats for the launch!

Looks Great !! Keep up the good work!!
CristianT
@sushant_sharma3 Thank you! We have been working on this technology for over six years, and it's incredible to see how we can make working from home more secure.
Catalin Pit
This is awesome! Congrats and keep up the great work!
CristianT
@catalinmpit, thank you!
Florin Corde
Nicely done! How do you handle data privacy? Do you store the user's typed text?
CristianT
@florincorde What happens on your machine stays on your machine. ActiveLock runs entirely on your device without needing to sync to the internet. Training, AI matching, security - all happens locally, and the app only looks at how you type, not what you type.
Raul Popa
@florincorde thanks and good question! We don't send typing biometrics data anywhere. Everything is done on the device itself, and we don't store the user's typed text, we convert it as it is typed in so called "typing patterns" which we use forward, 100% on the device, in real time, encrypted and safe. Thanks again!
Nick Tromboukis
Congratulations on the launch! How does this work if I have multiple devices? Can I use the same account, and will the app retrain on my additional devices?
Raul Popa
@nick_tromboukis it's device dependent for the moment, as we don't want to enable biometric data transfers between devices... not even Apple enables this as it can lead to other potential breaches, so we want to be very careful with migration. Technically you'll install this on all your computers and it will work independently on each.
Nick Tromboukis
How accurate / how many false positives do you experience using this? I imagine if I’m running late to a zoom meeting, latte in hand, my typing would be a bit different than at the end of the day peacefully browsing foreign baking videos in bed.
Raul Popa
@nick_tromboukis the technology is optimized for 0% false reject. You should never be kicked out of your own machine if you're using it normally, even with some changes in typing, potentially such as those suggested by you. Now, if you start typing with one finger, or at a very different style, on purpose, you'll get to see first hand how the app will react. In our controlled tests we've reached 1/10,000 false rejects, and even that was a person typing in bed (possible one hand only) lying on a side.. the whole idea of this app is to protect your work computer, so, one should use it normally (at a desk, a table, or in their lap, etc) and shall never see a false reject. I for example use the last generation app (the one that is free to download now), for 2+ months and had absolutely 0% false rejects.
David Achim
Congrats guys on the launch! Is there also a multi-user option, for example, if the IT department/other colleague needs to access the device?
CristianT
@david_achim1 Thanks! The IT administrator usually has the means to maintain any device with the appropriate rights and can pause ActiveLock for that purpose. The option to be used by different persons on the same account is not possible as this is exactly what we are presenting. So, multiple persons can share the same device, but with different user/account on that computer.
Naveed Rehman
I remember the bios lock n some norton security tools similar to your product. Overall, it looks quite cool but not sure why someone will use it when OS level login is already in place? Congratulations on the launch! Keep up the exciting work 🙂
Raul Popa
@naveed_rehman it doesn't replace the login at all, ActiveLock works AFTER you login.
Naveed Rehman
@raulpopa So, its kind of the second-layer security? Interesting :)
Raul Popa
@naveed_rehman absolutely, it's a zero trust concept, continuous verification and yes, it's a second layer of security that comes after the login.
Heleana Grace
Awesome work, guys! Huge congrats on the launch! 🎉
CristianT
@heleana Thank you, and I hope you enjoy the free app. You will now be secured from your dog typing on your laptop :D
Ankit
Beautiful! Helps my anxious side avoid the whole coffee shop situation where I have to take my entire stack with me to pee!
Raul Popa
@ankit_sparks good point! :)
Shushant Lakhyani
This is a great idea you've worked upon! Congratulations on the launch!
CristianT
@shushant_lakhyani Thank you. We love working on it and have been doing it for over six years. Also, we have patents in this area and looking forward to the following challenges ahead.
Ferhan Gül
Nicely done!
Samuel Filip
This is fantastic! I've seen that the Training Status is at 0%. How long until it learns the way we type? Cheers!
Raul Popa
@samuel_filip1 1-2 days depending how much you actually use the computer during these days.
Samuel Filip
@raulpopa Thanks! So if we have multiple users on a device, will Active learn each user separately, or will it cumulate all users?
