Congrats, Intercom team! We've been big Intercom users since we launched Coda. Intercom has been a great platform that gives us a much more responsive and personal feel for our users. That creates the next challenge: our users like to chat with us, and give us tons of feedback, but it's also a very large volume for our product development team. So we started routing Intercom chat data into Coda (of course 🙂) so we could start mining all the gold in that feedback, find the key nuggets we wanted to work on, and then notify (and thank!) users when their requests were addressed. So when we talked with the Intercom team about their new App Store, we got inspired. We decided to build a Coda Intercom messenger app and pair it with a templatized version of our Coda User Feedback tracker. Felt like a good way for other Coda+Intercom customers to build their own version of this process - looking forward to seeing what everyone builds!

@eoghanmccabe Have been using Intercom since the day we have launched our B2B SaaS. Big Fan :) Couple of thoughts if you are doing B2B : a) Target SaaS companies who have recently raised funding. These companies are now going to spend money on product and improve customer journey. b) Target SaaS companies who are hiring for Inside Sales, Enterprise Sales, Corporate Sales, product managers. Companies who are hiring for such roles indicate that they are willing to invest money on product and improve customer experience. Would be happy to hear your thoughts on this :)

@shishirmehrotra Coda looks really great. But, I could not find anything on pricing. How much will Coda set me back?

Intercom is starting to look more similar to Slack, which has a deep App Store, but for external communications. P.S. Check out the Product Hunt Intercom app. 😊

@mattnhodges excited to be a part of this! It's clear that users need a host of dynamic experiences and functionality, and Intercom's Messenger interface is a really smart way to provide these options. What were the key improvements you made during the beta period for the dev tools?

@_pulkitagrawal thanks, Pulkit! In answer to your question:
  • free developer workspaces so you can build and test apps safely
  • you can now update and edit your app scopes, and get started building without having to wait for approval
  • you can now manage your app listing directly from the developer hub, so you can edit as needed and control when it goes live in the Intercom App Store (with a smoother approval process too!)
  • you can now create multiple apps, rather than one per workspace
Hope that helps!

Intercom's APIs are solid, great to see the tooling rounding into form as well. Also love the public app store, such a good distribution channel. Looking forward to trying these out at Userfeed!
Derek Skaletsky
Really awesome job to the @intercom team. They really put together a world class experience from a developer/partner perspective. Having the public facing "store" is a huge next step. Looking forward to seeing where this thing goes...I'm bullish :)

No doubt, Intercom is just going to be the silent Slack and Zapier Killer. It'll force Workplace by Facebook, MS Team, Flock as well as Zendesk, Freshchat, and others to run for their money in the longer run. And after Instagram, Whatsapp and LinkedIn, Intercom will be the biggest acquisition in the history! Do you agree with it @rrhoover, @eoghanmccabe, and @mattnhodges?
Ryan Hoover
@eoghanmccabe @mattnhodges @sumt7 I hope so. I'm a very very tiny investor in the company. 😊 But separate from my financial motivations, I've been a long-time admirer and user of the product. Intercom's execution has been A+.
Sumeet Mahendra
@eoghanmccabe @mattnhodges @rrhoover That's really great you got a piece of gold mine. But I've bad news (a tip from Senior FB India Team member) for all the Founders of Chat & Helpdesk based SaaS as the Facebook will come up with much better version of version of Support Fb messenger with Macros and CRM features complete integration of Whatsapp business + Fb Business + Workplace by Fb. Certainly, it'll be volcano for many big and small Support based SaaS developers.
Ryan Hoover
@sumt7 no doubt Facebook is working on this. They launched their customer support widget not long ago, but I wouldn't assume they will dominate. They have advantages but this is a wildly different business than what they've built today.
Sumeet Mahendra
@rrhoover I second you, but after some senior hires from Support Domain and poaching of VCs (aka Board members) and they'll be on the top this market too. How can and how long they'll allow such crucial data (chat conversations between B2B, B2C) users at their competitors hand. And, maybe someday someone from Spencer Stuart call/email you for a meeting to get be hired for the Facebook. 😉
Justin Winter
App Store page not mobile friendly? Huh?!?! C’mon, Intercom, we all expect better! ;-)
Paul Adams
@jcwinter Scoping calls, not simple 😬 we'll work on it in future!

I used to love Intercom. I started following them starting from their growth hack blog posts back in the day. Today, I have a love/hate relation with the company. I used Intercom a year or so ago and stopped using it due to the cost of multiple products I had to have to use website chat. The chat app and experience is excellent, I have to admit. What really damaged their brand in my eyes is bogus products. They've created products where there were none! Last year, they used to have Acquire (for your users not logged in), Engage (for your users logged in) and Resolve (...for your users logged in but who need help??). It was clear they were trying to create products where they don't exist as they never made sense. A couple of weeks back, I tried Intercom again and now the products were named differently but still it makes no sense where one feature ends and one beings. For example, the Messages product does not give you a list of messages to manage them! It's so absurd. You get one product hoping it'll do what you need, but lo and behold, you need another product to use the first.

@happygezim sincerely bummed to hear this, mate. :( The changes we made to our product lineup that you referenced were designed to create mutually exclusive feature sets between products. They were in response to customer feedback just like yours. Perhaps the name is confusing, but our Mesaages product is for sending targeted outbound messages-email, in-app or push-to encourage actions to be taken on your website or in your product. You can see replies to your messages at the individual message level or globally in the Coversations list, which is included free with every product. If you need more robust workflow capabilities (eg conversation assignment, saved replies, assignment rules etc) to mange larger volumes of inbound conversations, that’s where you can choose to purchase our Inbox product. Not every customer who uses Messages needs Inbox, which is why we charge separately for it. It’s all designed to give customers flexibility in choosing what to pay for, based on their specific needs.
Gezim Hoxha
@mattnhodges, thanks for the response. Perhaps this is the wrong forum, but I'd love to know the thinking behind the Conversations view being so different on the mobile app (https://www.evernote.com/l/AAKUO...) which I love, and the Conversations view on the web app (https://www.evernote.com/l/AALAQ...) which is not very useful at all without the Inbox product.
Nav Chatterji
The Slack integration via the Intercom app store doesn't allow private channels anymore :(
Jean-Pierre Pequito
@navchatterji that has been the case for the past 6 months. You could get the same notifications sent to a private channels by using Zapier. The reason is that it's now a two-way integration, unlike the older one which only posted notifications. That means we would have to be reading data from private channels, a red flag for some of our customers who are more sensitive with data privacy. It was a situation that wouldn't please everyone equally.

this looks like a very uique app management idea if you need any help to improve this project you can take guidance from hotspot shield apk page.
