GuideGuide is an extension that lets you quickly and easily create grids and manipulate guides with a consistent UI in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketch. You'll save so much time and math using GuideGuide that you'll wonder how you ever did design work without it (that's not marketing, it's common feedback).

Hello, I’m the guy that makes GuideGuide 👋! GuideGuide been a labor of love since 2010, when I launched it as a free Photoshop extension that quickly became the most installed third-party extension. I started charging for it in 2015 when I released an Illustrator version and with this Sketch release, I’m making an earnest attempt to turn it into my primary source of income. I’m a bit of a product polyglot. I’m a creative director by day and a developer by night, where I put into practice the things I’ve learned over the years from the talented developers I’ve had the fortune of working with. I write copy, illustrate, design, and generally try to do 100% of the product process wherever I can, until it becomes clear it’s inadvisable for me to do so. GuideGuide 5, the Sketch release, is my stab at a few new things, including teaching myself React, building something with cloud functions, creating a subscription product, and turning GuideGuide into an established business. If you already know GuideGuide, I hope you’re excited to finally find it in Sketch. If you’ve never used it, dear god please try it. It will change your life. If you’re the promotional type, you can use the code PRODUCT HUNT when subscribing to get your first six months for $5/month. Or if you just want to poke at it there is a 14 day free trial, after which I can all but promise you will feel an overwhelming desire to buy it. I hope you enjoy.

@cameronmcefee a little steep considering it's an extension. For that price I would expect it to valet my car, do the washing and code my socks. 🤑💰🤮

@hellotom I can't fault you for feeling that way. When thinking about what GuideGuide is worth to you, consider how often you might use it in all of the apps it supports and how much time it saves you. For you, that may not be a good trade, or perhaps it is, but in either case, its value comes from what it does, not what it stands next to. It's a professional product and if it saves you more money in billable hours in a month than it costs, that feels fair to me. I'll be evaluating the price of GuideGuide over time to see what works for people. It's easier to lower a price than to raise it, so while it may feel high now, if everyone else agrees with you, it may be lower in the future.

@cameronmcefee It's a great extension! I have been using it many years during my work in the Photoshop era. I was very surprised to see it for sketch today. I am in favor of your dream to become an independent/indie maker like @levelsio or @marckohlbrugge I am also working towards this goal for myself 🚀 Here some ideas on building a community around GuideGuide: Sharing the grids, designs (maybe even with 1 button click within the extension). You could also start as simple as a read-only telegram group (which shares the grids/designs after the button click) and give write access to the people who have an active subscription. I wish you good luck :)
