CHEATER!! Thanks for the backstory, @alexandersideris. I have no problem with this. 😊
Alex West
@rrhoover Haha, you got me. You're most welcome Ryan, thank you for hosting this amazing community!

@rrhoover @alexandersideris it'll kill year of my commits :( btw, keep going. pretty sure that you'll make a lot of new products soon. Publish your experience at Medium article.

If you want to have a great contributions streak, do it for real instead of faking it. Otherwise GitHub contributions will have no meaning from now on.

Pros:

Congrats on making and shipping!

Cons:

I don't support this idea

Mark Entingh
My github garden is already green because I make real commits to open source projects nearly every day
Matthieu de Luze
Nice story behind making this tool! Sometimes done is better than perfect 😼
Alex West
@matthieudeluze Thanks Matthieu. Yep, that's what I am trying to learn incorporate :)

Seems like a great solution for the first world problems. Jk! We all need little fun and this is definitely fun tool. Keep 'em coming.
Alex West

Wish I am able to draw a picture with the GitHub pixels via this app 🤔
Alex West
@alexanderisora Haha, great idea! I am writing it down as a todo right now. Hopefully, I will build build it in the future!

Worst idea to destroy github. Can we vote down? lol

It is bad for good devs who don't open source as much as they like (myself).

It is bad for companies which need people who really are into open source.

It is bad for devs as it generates a non-real competition, you've basically allowed us to cheat on your github-resume

Pros:

Good idea for looking as if you are productive

Cons:

It is plain cheating

Ж као жабец

Pros:

more douchbags

Cons:

Why would you do this?

Hello PH! I am a 23 yo solo maker from Greece, the country of deep economic crisis. Just like many others here, I am chasing my dream of becoming an indie maker and possibly make a living out of it. I have been working hard on this dream for about 6 months now with no great results to show myself. As a result I found myself unmotivated to continue. I caught myself procrastinating, so I pulled my socks up, built and launched GitHub Gardener in a single week to get my momentum back! It is a silly idea, but the process of going from idea to launch is very helpful to me. I really had to battle my perfectionism on this one, but I am proud of the result for the time I put it. You can see the whole story from idea conception to launch on a single twitter thread here. (https://twitter.com/alexsideris_...) I understand that the nature of this bot may be controversial, but come on, there are a lot more worse things in this world than ‘undeserving’ green githubs, who gives a doodoo really. :P I really hope you like it, feedback is more than welcome! :D

@alexandersideris I know how hard it is to get a project off the ground, so kudos for keeping yourself self motivated and moving forward. Out of interest, what tech stack do you work with? We're always on the lookout for motivated remote workers

@alexandersideris Very interesting to see your approach! Our stack is quite different (PHP, Laravel, Vuejs, Digitalocean, Postgres etc)
Alex West
@scotty_bowler I like it! Good luck with your product!
Jake Prins
@alexandersideris Really cool, but I don't like that I need to give permission for 'Organization access'. Do you really need that?
Ralphie Woofy
Love this
Alex West
@ralphie_woofy thanks Ralphie!
Maximilian Berkmann
This is simply ridiculous! Do you want to make your contributor graph greener? Just work on more projects and be active. No need to cheat or fake that.
Félix Dion-Robidoux (DiglidiDudeNG)
Wow that is plain scummy. Gonna have to write an article about this.

Hello, everyone. I have some problems to create "a good work history" for my new github account created in this year. I created it in July and tried to "copy" someone's history. At the first time I was very happy with the "perfect result" but it was only a sec, Because I found some issues that I could see my history began in 2012 but others could see only history of this year. I think it is because my account was created in this year. Let me know if anyone has any solutions for this. Thank you for your time.
