How did your company get its name?
'More Seconds' actually began as a silly idea for a catering business a friend and I had been brainstorming back in 2016. Our concept was simple: when people love your food, they ask for seconds, right? Yes, I already know that it’s a bad idea, and we never took it past the drawing board. But the name stuck with me throughout my journey as a freelance developer.
As I dove deeper into the world of freelance web development, I noticed that my clients were often very happy to distance themselves from the technical side. They just wanted to focus on what they did best – their businesses.
This realization became the driving force behind my work: the more engaged I was, the more time (or 'seconds') my clients had to invest in what truly mattered to them. And that’s what kept them extremely sticky.
This philosophy has not only shaped our company culture but has also defined our commitment to going the extra mile for our clients. At More Seconds, we push hard to make sure that every experience with our team is as straightforward and hassle-free as possible. We're the embodiment of clicking the red "easy" button.
I’ve always been dedicated ( or obsessed ) with simplifying the development process, which is what led us to building mDash, a user-friendly platform designed to streamline web development project management.

Our company Miday is a time-tracking and invoicing app. The name is related to a 'day' and 'time', but what I really love about it is that it contains a common date format m/d/y.
@midaybdon I like the idea behind the name and the formatting, very meta for devs lol. What was the runner up name that didn't make the cut?
@brianhurst haha yeah. We didn't have too many other names in mind, we had "Lancer" as in freelancer, but I wasn't a huge fan and before that, we were going for a very boring simplistic brand and called it "TrackAndBill", but we eventually got bored of it lol.
I always tell people that coming up with a name is the hardest part of starting a company.
Great story, and I'm glad the name stuck around because it worked so much better the second time around (pun intended).
Unstuck, which is a CBT journaling app, got its name after a super long brainstorming period. We had been at it for weeks and were running out of steam. I was seeking to recharge by doing a jigsaw puzzle. My partner was asking me questions about my experience with CBT and I was absentmindedly replying to his questions. At some point, I was telling him about how my therapist had taught me that it was about finding ways to get unstuck. And there it was. All of a sudden the name just popped up. The power of the half-distracted mind 😅

I really like the name Unstuck, it's somehow clever and straight to the point. That's a hard combo to nail.

@brianhurst Thank you! We're launching on Tuesday, and would love some support and feedback :) We currently have around 500 active users per week and it's steadily growing as we're increasing our marketing effort.
Our company name is Feedspace- Customer Feedback Platform. It is a tool where you can collect, create and share text and video feeds.
Name idea- Space for feed- Feedspace.
Named Caena after my best plant - the Dracaena
We are launching Who Wants to be a Unicorn today, named that as a twist on the popular game show:)
We created a list of names and Graphite was by far the best! Also if you guys love an underdog story, please support Graphite today - we spent most of the day in #3 and are currently trying to overtake #1 :)
