Phew! I was slightly concerned as to why Yodel was hunted... here in the UK we have a parcel courier/delivery company called Yodel & to put it blunt: they are not good & have a bad reputation! However, a sigh of relief, this isn't them but instead an awesome product! I'm a huge fan of 'old school' phones (and text/SMS - got something in the pipeline that uses text/SMS). Keen to see what my team thinks of this! Congrats!

What is the difference between your system and other phone systems that integrate with Slack?
@fdorfbauer great question! We use Slack as the user interface wherever possible. We don't only use Slack to make a "call log". We announce calls in a Slack channel and you can answer the call directly from Slack. You can dial out directly from Slack.
We also don't have "users/extensions" on Yodel. Everybody that has access to your Slack channel can answer calls. So you don't pay per user.
It's a collaborative way to handle phone calls.
You can even share the call URL with others … send them the Yodel link via e.g. WhatsApp … they click on it and can answer the call. It's like sharing GIFs :-)
Hi Mike. First of congrats. Awesome idea and design looks slick. As a current Aircall user I really appreciate the fair pricing. User based pricing doesnt reflect the real usage/value but calls/numbers does. I am currently at the beach 🌴🌞 windsurfing but when I am at home we should talk about moving LingoHub from Aircall to Yodel.
hi @mikeseeh! quick question: slack announced their own voice calling feature just some days ago. why is yodel different? :)
@colazionearoma Thanks for asking this. We are super happy that Slack started to integrate voice so people get used to make calls via Slack. Slack calls is limited to team communications so you cannot call regular phones.
With Yodel you can get phone numbers in over 40 countries. It’s a business phone system that is integrated directly into Slack as a bot. When people call you on your Yodel landline number you can answer the call from Slack. You can even call out from Slack!
@msch Thanks for the question! You can use Yodel on the iPhone with our responsive layout and call forwarding. In a few weeks we launch our Yodel iOS app to directly answer calls on iPhone and iPad. Mac app is currently not planned ... but who knows ... what would be your use case for the Mac app?

Are you planning to add support for other chat solutions (ie. Chatgrape, Hipchat,etc.) or is it Slack only?

Tried and liked the service. Slack integration is just a cherry on the top.
Only one problem, if I do not answer a call and it gets disconnected after all the rings, slack keeps bothering me. I had to finally mute the slack channel to stop alerts
@rohit11 thanks for reporting this! We had a few accounts were a callback URL was set but not properly saved. This is already fixed and works now flawlessly.
Hey @mikeseeh, first off congrats on being featured on PH! This looks super cool, I went ahead and signed up and placed a call... I didn't answer it to see how the automated voice sounded reading the voicemail message and whenever I did hang up it kept saying that my number (that I called from) was waiting to be answered. I tried calling again and answering but it keeps incrementing saying I'm waiting for x minutes. I had to remove the Slack app to get it to stop for now. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Really want to use this.

Great idea, looking forward to give Yodel a try. Quick question: You write about sharing phone calls. What’s this? What are these concurrent calls mentioned in your price list?

Every phone call in Yodel has a unique URL that you can share with others.
So if a colleague currently has no Slack access you send the URL via e.g. WhatsApp. They click on the link and answers the call. Its that easy!
We don't charge by users. You can have as many team members using Yodel as you like.
What we limit is how many phone calls you can answer at the same time.
Our standard plan includes two concurrent calls … but you can add as many as you need.
I really like the name and design, well done! Can I play announcements and music on hold? Which options do I have?

You can play a welcome message (audio file or we use text to speech) and music on hold.
We also have an option for announcement only. So if somebody calls we play this announcement and then hang up or send them to voicemail (your choice).
Some of our users put the number of this announcement only on their website to redirect their visitors to their support system.
@a12rj great question! We use Slack as the user interface wherever possible. So you don't have a second application open all day to answer calls. You get the call in Slack. You pick up in Slack. At the moment we only open the browser to talk. If you want to dial out just write /yodel call NUMBER and off you go.
Our focus is on all the teams that live in Slack and want to reduce the number of apps they use.
We also don't bill you per user but per concurrent calls … this is how many calls you can answer at the same time.
Last but not least … you can share calls! Grab the Yodel call link and send it to anybody out there and they can answer right away!
Please help me get set up properly. Purchase in Feb but there are still bugs and I have not been able to use it despite many messages with support. Thanks!
Just signed up for Yodel & looking forward testing it. We have already a phone number. Can I take it with me?
And one more thing: Can I only talk via the browser or also on the mobile? How does this work?
To answer on the mobile you can forward the call to your mobile number with a single click. In addition we will have a mobile app in a few weeks to answer the calls directly.
forgot :-) if you use Slack on the mobile this works too … Yodel is responsive!
