Which types of products tend to perform best on Product Hunt, in your experience?

My impression is that it's the ones who manage to engage the community somehow, and this typically originates outside of PH. It could be a Twitter stint or a solid marketing effort outside of PH. Of course, they still have to be good products! But I think that promotion is more crucial

@therealkaczor agree does seem like the promotion side has become quite critical. organic discovery pretty difficult. part of that is maybe to be expected given the sheer volume of launches. i do wonder if the active userbase has skewed more towards makers trying to launch than seekers over time. i'll be the first to admit PH was not on my radar until i had something to launch earlier this year.

I would say products that allow users to gain initial value - B2C or self serve B2B.

Products that are easy to use and look great often get the most attention. Make sure your product is user-friendly!

The products with a well-thought through launch plan usually do well. Apart from this, organically few ideas hit the right spot and hence are given preference over others.

I think minimalist and easy to use tools perform the best. Products that can be understood and used right away without a steep learning curve seem to do well.
