Which media outlets have you used for PR publications about your company/product/startup?

I was stumped when I was asked to make a choice of media outlets in which we could place PR materials to advertise our project. I'm not a PR person, so the task is difficult. Any help or advice would be gratefully received)

I've always used a PR distribution company like PR Web and then backed it up with direct messaging to any industry publications where I know folks that can get it to the print desk.

We're using TheWebAppMarket right now for some publication and while their reach isn't great it's very cheap, so this could be an option. We'll definitely explore this more in the future after our launch.
