WFH deal-breaker or not?

Would not working from home be a deal-breaker for you? Do you guys check for new jobs that offer WFH?

I think it deeply depends on the position. I prefer hybrid (for the same reasons you've listed). My friends that are devs view WFH as a nonstarter and want complete autonomy over how they work. I think it's important to have empathy with it and set people up for success where possible.

@jake_gutstein @priyanka_ramabhadran Telling people how they have to work - particularly devs - is always a mistake IMO.

I've done WFH for about 4-5 years. Since I live alone I'm quite isolated overall - it's not good. I would be incredibly reluctant to consider a job that was long term WFH only.
It wouldn't be - I've always been comfortable having a hybrid model (my company always allowed a portion of time being WFH)

@maxwellcdavis yes the hybrid model definitely gets an upvote from me

Yes it is a deal breaker. No WFH = No job

100% dealbreaker. I do like the office, and a hybrid setup - but I NEED wfh. Wouldn't consider a job that needed me in-office full-time, whereas I'd consider one that was 100% remote.

WFH is definitely a better deal. Saving on commute time, flexibility to work from anywhere in the world. For me these two are very important.

I work on my own now and have been for a long time. But even before, not working from home was a total deal breaker. Driving every day on crowded freeways and me don't get along too well.

After doing WFH on and off for the past two years, I decidedly prefer to commute. I know I'm privileged to live pretty close to my company office, which makes the choice easier, but even when I work on my own I still go to a coworking space or rent a 1-person office (we have plenty of options in Korea) to keep the line between home and work clear.
