I am trying to gather tools directly developed for the Product Hunt platform that could possibly help you with the launch.
This is what I have gathered so far.
Advanced PH Scrapper – extracting data of launches into the charts
Hunted Space – calendar & stats for upvotes, comments, upvote speed
Launchgrid – something like a database of launches from PH & HN
Launchpedia – kits (PH resources)
Product Hunt favourites – extension for bookmarking
Product Hunt trending – overview of successful launches (ranking)
Product Wars – upvotes, comments, speed stats
If you know more, feel free to share.
@gamifykaran Thank you, Karan :) I missed some of them but I am so thankful you incorporated them in comments! :) Thank you also for mentioning my video :)
Here's some PH v/s Reddit drama: Are Reddit and Product Hunt Frenemies?
Back in 2022, I mentioned a Product Hunt (PH) scraper on my subreddit, r/GrowthHacking.
It was a competitor to @PhantomBuster, a well-known automation tool. Interestingly, both PhantomBuster and its two main competitors had worked with me on Reddit marketing campaigns.
Since PH had allowed PhantomBuster to launch on its platform, I assumed it was fair game to discuss a competing product on my subreddit. But to my surprise, a PH employee went out of their way to stalk my Reddit activity and imposed restrictions on my PH account for mentioning a scraper on my subreddit which I didn't even built or owned, I simply mentioned it.
I had to escalate the issue internally, pointing out the unfair bias and inconsistent governance. If they allowed Phantombuster on PH, I must have liberty to mention it's competitors on my property (Reddit subreddit). Eventually, other PH team members lifted the restrictions.
What makes this story even weirder is that Reddit pulled a similar stunt on me.
At one point, Reddit's team de-platformed me simply because a PH Maker mentioned me on their Maker comment. It was a Reddit-related tool — Howitzer for Reddit. This product was so controversial that Reddit probably made a special request to remove it, but PH didn't remove it.
They (Reddit team) stalked my activity on PH, jumped to the conclusion that I was the product’s user, and used that as a reason to take action against me. They sent me a personal email stating I BROKE Reddit. LOL
Things have changed since then. I was found to be an innocent mod of Reddit and I was respectfully onboarded as a mod once again. Now, I share good relations with the Reddit team. I also hunted Reddit Answers last year. They have added me to a special database to inform of all the latest Reddit features.
Both incidents made me wonder — are Reddit and Product Hunt frenemies? I felt I was innocent and unnecessarily got pulled into the drama during the crossfire haha :D
Interesting Facts:
Product Hunt (PH) links were once banned on Reddit. Yep, long ago, but it happened.
PH’s ex-CEO was actually a former Reddit employee.
The Reddit team member who de-platformed me? No longer on the team.
The PH employee who restricted my account? No longer on the team. Hence not tagging.
The whole thing is hilarious in hindsight. You mentioning a scraper just triggered this wild memory. 😆
So wait – are those scrappers restricted or how is it? :D I am confused now, because I found it thanks to the PH :D
@busmark_w_nika Exactly, the entire incident left me confused if scrapper was the problem or Reddit. xD
@focusaur I hope you used Product Hunt favourites! :D You are welcome, James :)
I have check this Advanced Product Hunt Scraper tool out and I can't see the value of the product. Why would one want to extract launches?
@oksana_ch Maybe for some comparison purposes I reckon. When you want to know specific category and the best results, i suppose that it has more like benchmarking purposes or you can additionally reach out to the team from that category to help you with the launch (feedback etc.)
@busmark_w_nika right. but as far as i could see, the tool could extract the products of the day (and its info). If it could extract info based on industry, then yes, I would agree it makes sense for comparison, etc. yet, it doesn't offer this feature🤷
@oksana_ch Maybe it is a good hint for a developer to customise it :)
This is a great list!
Have you come across any tools that help with tracking engagement after a launch like monitoring discussions, user feedback, or retention data?
Would love to hear what others have used.
@goodgistai Thank you Ruban :) Not yet. Which one do you mean? Can you share the link?
You might want to check out Upvote Bell(it notifies you when a product is getting a spike in upvotes, helping track trends in real-time).
@hamza_afzal_butt Can you leave here a link? I couldn't approach the website from some unknown reason :/
Amazing list! @busmark_w_nika Really appreciate you sharing this. bookmarking it now. 👍
