New to PH & would love to connect!

by

Hey everyone. I'm excited to join PH this week and I'm already learning so much ahead of launching my first product (difr.me)!

About Me:

Like so many others, I was recently laid off and quickly found myself in need of something to keep me focused & engaged and I really wanted to immerse myself in AI as I looked for my next role.

My background before that has been primarily in professional services and business operations. While I've done a lot of GTM-adjacent work, actively driving marketing & social are a pretty new to me, so I'm excited about honing these skills here PH.

On a personal note, I'm based out of Austin, TX (USA) where I live with my wife, daughter & our pug. I'd be honored to connect here & am def open to meetups if you're local.

I'm excited to get to know so many ambitious & accomplished makers from across the globe!!

About Difr (my first product!):

When I was laid off, I experienced first hand just how broken, exhausting and dehumanizing job search can be. It was practically killing me!

So I started building Difr (difr.me) to solve a problem I was encountering daily: How can I make this experience of finding a new job better?

Difr makes job search better by empowering job seekers to manage their 1-million applications, get deep insights to their fit, and use AI to tailor custom resumes for every role they apply to.

I'm currently doing this on my own & would absolutely love your feedback and support :)

Welcome to Product Hunt! I love when personal experiences turn into solutions and product ideas. difr.me looks great and a tool I wish I had during my job searches. I've found that on the internet in general, you really have to give to get. I asked myself too many times "why aren't my tweets getting likes" and was in complete denial that I had to engage with others, rightfully so. If you feel uncomfortable, you are on the right track! @kenny_hawkins "If you feel uncomfortable, you are on the right track!" Man, that's good advice! Time to get over my introvert self lol

Welcome and best of luck, Dan!

Finding new jobs is definitely haunting. We really should figure out how to make the process more humane and bearable for all. Wishing difr gets to improve it! 👏

Hey @dan_difr , Welcome to PH!

It's great to have you here, and kudos to you for channeling your experience into building something impactful with Difr.me. Since you're diving into AI and also getting hands-on with GTM and marketing, PH is a great place to sharpen those skills. 2 important things to make the most of it:

1️⃣ Engage Early & Often – Share your journey, insights, and challenges. The more you engage, the more the community supports back.

2️⃣ Leverage Feedback Loops – PH is filled with makers and early adopters. Ask for feedback, iterate, and refine Difr based on what resonates.

Looking forward to seeing Difr in action! Wishing you all the success 🚀

Cheers,
Rounak

@rounakschindalia Thanks for the thoughtful response! 2 quick questions:

1) do you think it's a good idea to launch my product asap (my 7 day wait period will be up next week and my software is already live and EA)? Or should I spend more time trying to connect with others first?

2) Once the product page is up, what's your top 2 or 3 ways to promote it here on PH so it actually gets noticed, and not lost in the noise?

Hello Dan. Years ago I was the main design force behind Enhancv (resume builder) and saw how the hiring industry works. Later I founded NobleHire in order to connect devs with companie, but it was then that I realised how broken the system is. Your approach is great, keep going!
I would suggest you redesign the website and a new fresh frendly-er branding. I know you are just starting up, and this will probably work for now, but definetly you should consider it at later point.

@mzkvisuals Hey Kaloian! thanks so much for the candid feedback. 🙌 I realize design is not my strength and would absolutely consider hiring a professional designer at some point in the future, it's just not in the budget on the short term.

I actually took a stab at what I thought might be a "fancier" design aesthetic several months ago. Had a parallax background, more transitions, more geared toward a scrollable landing page with multiple CTAs, etc. I scrapped it and started over because I had this pull to simplify things, partly because I just don't really know what I'm doing w/design, and partly because I thought it reflective of the brand identity we're trying to build.

With all that said, I'm very open to incremental improvements in the meantime. What design choices I should be considering making right now that would help improve my landing page?

Again, thank you so much!

@dan_difr I would suggest going with more minimalstic and clear aestetics. This will go 'easy' on the eye of the users. An overal 1 main color (light or dark) with 1 accent color and 1-2 complimentary colors will work perfectly. If you go with white as main color, then maybe go with electric green for accent color and use the other colors rarely just to compliment the design. Also I would suggest to tone down the electic green, make it more friendly, more calm. Also if you go down that path get rid of the black color and black gradients.
Logo is pretty nice by the way

Welcome Dan! Love that you are creating a solution for a personal pain point. I think the most successful entrepreneurs are those that deeply understand the problem. Wishing you the best!

Welcome Dan!! Difr seems like a really interesting product, I know I hate re-writing resumes for every new job app 😂
