I want to make my Twitter a source of knowledge and sharing information

Currently, I have the same twitter account as I did throughout high school and college and I have never really made any "social media" friends or connections through Twitter although I see people do so pretty regularly. Would you suggest I create a brand new Twitter account to use professionally or to continue to use my current one, acknowledging the fact that some of my older tweets are a bit unprofessional? Additionally, how does one break into a Twitter community like entrepreneurship or technical Twitter?

If your old one doesn't have a strong following that matches the one you want, I would suggest to create a new one. Think through the overall brand and image you want the new one to have and then start following and engaging with people in the same areas. Set out to add value and learn vs setting out to create a following. The followers will come.
