Congrats Lawrence! How are people using this today?
Lawrence Coburn
@toddg777 Thanks Todd. A couple of use cases: 1) virtual events. Because it's web based, super easy to point out to a twine deep networking room from Zoom, or whatever platform you are using. 2) replacing the Zoom hh / virtual watercooler. 3) onboarding new employees - quick and fun way to let your new folks meet new people. 4) DEI conversations (structure helps with difficult topics).

Was fortunate to be part of the early beta, and have seen this product develop too (fwiw, in my first few sessions I made connections with strangers who I had follow-ups with!). I've been recommending twine to friends' companies to deepen internal relationships, but also love the fact that you can meet new folks during this trying time.

@mosesofwatches Thanks Aaron!

This is a fantastic product for fostering real connection. It's a seamless on-ramp to meaningful conversations that flow easily. The world needs more of Twine.

I had the pleasure of meeting Laurence before their initial (pre-pivot) launch party, and am very glad to see how it's evolved to meet the needs of our current sociocultural climate. I've enjoyed the product immensely - deep conversations are rare in the real world, and Twine has figured out a low-friction way to jump start them that doesn't feel contrived or creepy. When the conversation works, it's feels like pure magic.
Lawrence Coburn
@john_yi Hey John! Nice to see you on here. Really enjoyed our f2f convo it feels like a lifetime ago!

Congratulations Lawrence, Tyler and Diana. A bunch of event tech veterans at it again! Twine is super cool. I have to admit that when I initially joined I was nervous that it was going to be weird to talk to people I didn't know, but the product really eases you both into it (like a good friend making an intro IRL might). I started a new gig during Covid and really wish we had something like this at an org wide event so that I could better get to know colleagues.
Lawrence Coburn
@therealpankaj thank Pank, means a lot coming from you!

I’ve used twine both personally and run one for my company and found that you have deeper and more intimate conversations than you ever would hanging out on a zoom. Would highly recommend to any leaders at companies looking to keep the team bonded and engaged with each other.

@nclarksf Thanks Nick!

SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!! Loved everything about the pre-pivot experience, and can't wait to use this to build authentic and engaging community in a virtual setting, which has been a massive challenge this year. This is going to be a game changer for community builders navigating this new normal.

@clur_sands So grateful we had the chance to run a couple live experiences - excited to work with you again! 🙏

We are super excited ❤️ to put twine out there. How to engineer serendipity has been a passion of ours for a long, long time, and this is our best shot at exposing the toolset to let anyone do it. 🌻🌻But I have to tell you about the extreme pivot we made to get here.🌻🌻 So we were due to launch a FACE-TO-FACE social network in New York City 🍎(twine.nyc!) on MARCH 15. We had 300 RSVPs for our launch event. These gatherings (in underground, sofar sounds style venues) would be powered by our iPhone app that guided you to meet and interact with new people for timed conversations, IRL. Alas, we did not predict a global pandemic that would wipe out all f2f interactions, indefinitely. ☠️So we pivoted. ☠️ We raced to wire in twilio programmable video into our app and relaunched as a consumer social network around meaningful, one-to-one conversation; tap a button and get connected to a stranger on the Internet for a deep convo. This was incredibly cool and rewarding, and we learned a ton. ★ We learned that short, structured interactions inspire intense joy - our NPS was 80+ across 1000 private beta users. ★ We learned how to bring the fidelity of our original IRL vision to digital. ★ And most importantly, we learned that what our users REALLY wanted was to take twine back to their companies, their events, their organizations. 💡 So we course corrected again - this time to re-architect the twine experience to allow anyone to hit our website, and roll their own deep networking experiences. There were so many inspirations along the way that led us to this point… chatroulette back in the day, before it got a bit edgy (!)… our co-founder Diana hosting hundreds of Jeffersonian dinners scripted with conversation starters, the work Taylor, Diana, and I did at DoubleDutch (which I co-founded) in the world of conference and event networking. And here we are. We are proud that we did not call it quits with coronavirus 🪳, and are ready for the next chapter. I’ll end with a couple of calls to action. 💥 Want to host your own deep networking session for friends, coworkers, family, etc? I attended a F2F trial of twine back in February before the pandemic wiped all personal interactions. I was amazed by the quality of conversation, thought provoking curated questions and a whole new way to understand others and be understood. With the latest pivot of twine, I am very excited to take it back to my teams to encourage deeper connections. Our teams are spread across the US and the pandemic made us more disconnected then ever. Twine would enable us to fight isolation, disconnection and build a better team.
Lawrence Coburn
@saket_agarwal2 man, a f2f trial! Seems impossible now, right? I remember that night... honestly, that felt like the end of normalcy... we had no idea what was coming to the world :(.

When I started using Twine, it was a fascinating conversation platform that had a unique belief about the power of human connection in the digital age. It's evolved. It's now grown into an essential culture-building and relationship-catalyzing tool for distributed teams and events. I've found Twine to be a charming, intimate platform that feels completely different to use than Zoom, Slack, or other connection tools. The lightly-guided conversations feel meaningful and focused. Never boring. Most imporantly, they always leave me with a deeper appreciation and understanding of the [colleague/acquaintance/total stranger] I'm talking to. That's the stuff of culture. If you work with more than 3 people (especially if you're not all in the same room), Twine could be the connective tissue that helps transform your group of colleagues into a team. Give it a look.
Taylor McLoughlin
@andrew_ostarello Hey Andrew! Thanks for being a part of the journey since the early days 🙏

Having used twine many times (both in professional and personal context), I can confidently say that I absolutely love and highly recommend twine! First, I truly believe in it's mission of bringing people closer together and changing the world one conversation at a time: In my case this has been true given that I found a dear friend (we were matched for a conversation and it clicked immediately - I appreciate the fact that with twine you dive straight into deep convos). Second, I have used twine with my team: In times of remote working (I should also mention that most of the team members have never met in real life!) it was so valuable to have a platform like twine that allowed us to bond through meaningful conversations. Lastly, every time I have a conversation at twine I feel like I have grown a little bit and learned a lot. As someone who loves to connect with strangers and always is curious to meet people from all over the world, I have found a safe + exciting space in twine.

I've been on Twine for personal gatherings and thought the deep conversations with strangers was great as I personally hate small talk. Talking about deeper questions, I've found, is a much better way to get to know someone. Highly recommend!
