TURTL Sunglasses — The Future of Eco-Friendly, Premium Sunglasses

Last year, I was overseas in Asia looking to invent new products and ended up at a major plastic inflatable manufacturing plant, just one of many factory tours. Halfway through the tour, it felt like my insides were turned inside out by how toxic the fumes were. Immediately, I started brainstorming products that could be reinvented to reduce our dependence on plastic. After 3 hours of throwing ideas at the wall, nothing stuck. Standing in a train station with what seemed to be tens of thousands of people, there was an “aha moment.” I noticed almost every single person in that train station was wearing plastic sunglasses, including myself. After some extensive research, I found it shocking that every year, 100M+ pounds of plastic from sunglass production ends up in our oceans and landfills. This finding was the nail in the coffin for getting started on building a new company - 18 months later, TURTL was born.
