Trickle helps you summarize and organize screenshots, extracting insights for easy search and query. Transform visual chaos into an intelligent archive, allowing you to screenshot anything and effortlessly retrieve and utilize its contents later.
Hey, PH community! And thank you, Rohan, for the hunt!
If you're already aboard the Trickle train or have followed our past launches, you may have noticed that we've made a significant pivot and are heading to a new path. Making this call wasn't easy. Over the past 18 months, a mix of eagerness and anxiety led us astray, causing us to clutter Trickle with too many "productivity" features, making it bulky. Now, we've taken a step back and decided to focus on only one problem.
Now Trickle is designed for people who frequently snap screenshots for later use and struggle with managing and finding them from the depths of buried folders. With Trickle, your ever-growing collection of screenshots is effortlessly managed. Leveraging the latest OCR tech and the reasoning capabilities of GPT-4, turn your screenshots into "visual memos" that are both readable and searchable.
Here's how Trickle works:
- 📷 Snap or drop your screenshots into Trickle.
- ✨ Delight in crisp AI-generated digests.
- 🔍 Easily browse, search, and ask.
But our aspirations go beyond this. Given that humans are naturally inclined to comprehend the world via visuals, continuously grasping fragmented info, we aim to harness visual captures and AI to enhance this fragmented info's collection, extraction, and utility. Screenshots stand as our first step in realizing this vision.
Under this vision, our commitment is to:
- Simplify and streamline the acquisition, access, and organization of information.
- Ensure memory retrieval aligns with human cognition.
- Magnify the value derived from the application of this knowledge.
A quick sneak peek at our roadmap: We're on the brink of launching both a Mac client and an iPhone app. With features for auto-syncing and on-device storage options, you'll have an even more secure and efficient way to manage and leverage the information in your screenshots.
Cheers,
Jarod
@ming_xu1 Rohan, congrats on the launch! This looks really cool! If I can suggest one thing: create a desktop app so that there is no need to separately send screenshots anywhere. Just let people take screenshots with your app right away, organize it locally and that's it. Hope this helps :)
@stoicbasil Great point! A desktop app is already on our roadmap, and I anticipate it will be live within a month. Looking forward to you trying it out. Thank you for your support and feedback!
Congratulations to you Jarod my friend and your team. I love the new website and how you use AI to increase productivity! This gonna stay number 1 today.
@zeng Thank you, Zeng! We've received your support every time we've launched, and I think we finally got some things right this time around. Your support means a lot to us.
Congrats on launching your new product! Not something I personally need, however it can be very useful for students that take a lot of screenshots of materials and resources
@andriyuh You're absolutely right, Andrija. Students are indeed a group of people who need to keep a lot of informative screenshots. As a product marketer, I also take screenshots of good content and store them in my folder.
Soon, Trickle will be able to process even more types of images. By then, I hope that Trickle can offer the value you need. ❤️
Congrats on the launch, @ming_xu1 and team! Love your branding! So consistent throughout. The tone and feed remind me of Gumroad. Anyway, all the best! :)
Oh My God! This is precisely what I was talking about a while back. My desktop keeps on getting full of screenshots, and I dump them all into a folder named All Desktop Items until XYZ date, and the cycle keeps on repeating. This will come so handy for me.
@viks_rum Your words echo almost exactly what I had in mind when the idea first popped into my head. Knowing so many find it useful truly fills me with joy.
Great pivot and launch. Many of us make screenshots and it gets lost on your desktop somewhere. For future use, do you consider to make a browser extension?
@bartvandekooij Absolutely! We're about to launch the browser extension, and we'd love for you to give Trickle a spin and share your thoughts once it's out ❤️.
@bartvandekooij Hi, Bart! As a long-time friend of Trickle, thank you for your continuous support. Like you, I have tons of screenshots on my Mac and iPhone, and this time we're trying to address that specific issue we face. Of course, browser extensions and client apps are on our roadmap. Once we have a beta version, you'll be among the first to try it out :)
@jsteneros Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled that you love the name. As for new features, we're actively working on expanding Trickle's capabilities. Some exciting developments on the horizon include improved AI-driven insights, enhanced search functionality, and mobile compatibility. Stay tuned for the latest updates on our journey! ❤️
@ninaaaa0913 I might do; I'm helping a VC find startups in your space. Could you email me here jsteneros @ gmail . com with some more info? A pitch deck would be ideal.
Wow! Congrats on the launch. What an amazing product that solves a need that many of us didn't even realize we had. I love the design components but beyond that I love the simplicity / use case.
Curious if you've thought of this as a platform that might integrate into other builds through an API? Either way - Amazing work and what a cool product!
@samdy_chen If you start to consider it seriously we might have a use case within our app. Please feel free to reach out to me via LinkedIn (link in profile) or at dan@contentblocks.com if and when that becomes a more serious roadmap decision.
I'm in love with this product already. It's the app I didn't know I needed, but after 20 min, I can't live without it.
#PKM nerds are going to lose their minds. Please consider looking at a Readwise connection so we can import directly into our linked PKM tool from there. You'd get a huge bang for your buck, and the PKM community, which is constantly looking at what new Readwise integrations are available, would find you quickly.
Usually, I don't get PKM tools until they have Readwise support, but this one's worth it. I'm going for it this time, and I've already synced up the notion connection to zapier so I can get it into my PKM.
Thank you so much for this. If you want to pick a PKM nerd brain for use cases, hit me up.
@lisaross I once foolishly tried to make a Notion alternative, but then I realized that I didn't even know my own needs were not being met: a pile of screenshots that took up half of my photo album, but were useless. So today's Trickle was born.
I'm glad you mentioned the Readwise, as several users also mentioned similar needs, so I think we should put it at the top of our roadmap. We may have a beta version ready in 1-2 weeks. During development, I'll try to get your feedback and provide a beta version for your reference. 🙌
Congratulations guys! The launch is looking awesome, and I've witnessed the effort that you've been through the last months here on product hunt. Cheers for that absolutely deserved #1 Product of the Day! :)
Really neat ultra-niched product. (I hate clicking 3 times for my current screenshot tool to get to OCR haha.)
What tech stack did you build with? Congrats on the launch.
All the best with your launch!! I think it's a super useful tool, I have over 2000 screenshots and rarely succeed in finding what I need, so this can be a game changer!
@sandradjajic Thanks for the support, Sandra! Just like you, I have over 2,000 screenshots which take up nearly half of my photo roll. We hope Trickle can help users navigate this chaos, making "visual memo" more effective.
It's really funny, I was just searching for a tool that could give strong summaries of images that I could then search back for later and I stumble on Trickle, looks excellent and looking forward to trying it out!
@adam_andrascik I'm really looking forward to you giving it a try. Hint: there's a discount code on the top left corner of this page. Wishing you a delightful Trickle journey!
Good idea to build a personal searchable library of screenshots! I’m already utilizing that fully with rewind and mymind though. Rewind making screenshots automatically and mymind got all of the bookmarks in there along with screenshots and even pictures straight from the camera.
Great application of ai though
Very neat, congrats on the launch and the pivot! I could see this being useful for sure. I'm curious if you've explored a freemium model as well? I'm hesitant to enter a free trial and I'd be likely be more inclined to do it on a freemium basis even if I could only use a limited number of screenshots until needing to upgrade. It somehow feel even lower risk than a free trial.
@adam_fry Hey Adam, I understand your concern. We have 7 days free trial, and if you don't love it, you can cancel subscription easily. So, please go ahead to trickle.
