GPT-4 composed a full-length book exploring the many ways humans misinterpret reality and suggests the role AI could play in nudging us beyond these evolutionary blind spots. Available in ebook and paperback.
Hey folks! 👋
'The Smartest Idiots On Earth' is an experiment in evaluating how well GPT-4 is at writing long-form non-fiction. The ebook will be available free on Amazon from 25th - 27th July, so please take advantage if you're at all interested.
Here's a quick overview of the writing process...
I provided the AI with a short synopsis of the book and asked it to generate chapter titles. It was then instructed to develop granular outlines for each of these chapters. These detailed outlines were foundational in crafting the prompts that would generate the long-form passages that comprise this book.
GPT-4 required significant context to write with any sort of continuity, which was probably the most challenging aspect of this exercise. In any case, the resulting 65,000-word book is remarkably insightful, albeit with some equally remarkable idiosynchrosies. As the purpose of 'The Smartest Idiots On Earth' is to demonstrate the long-form wirting capabilities of GPT-4, the text remains largely untouched by human editors.
I would be delighted to hear your impressions of the book, your interpretation of it, and any insights you gained from reading it. The book is available now both in eBook and Paperback formats and will be followed by an audiobook version soon.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or comments.
Thank you and happy reading!
