Hey Product HuntπŸ‘‹ I’m Jay. I’ve been a proud member of the PH community for 7 years and this is the very first time launching my own product here. Super excited! πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ Why Launching Tape πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ It has always been always my dream to freely choose which city, country or even continent to wake up the next morning. Although the pandemic has moved remote work to a whole new level, most of us still can’t do it unless we are on vacation. Our goal is to create software that helps people who want the same to overcome whatever obstacles they may be facing. Eventually, you and I, we all can have the freedom. Today, we are launching Tape - A much less interrupting yet powerful way for teams to share, discuss and collaborate. We want creative people like you to spend more time creating and less time in meetings. No matter where and when you work. πŸ“Ό Tape lets you communicate asynchronously with your team by recording (or uploading) and exchanging videos of your screen and face in threads with only two clicks - No installation required🚫. Unlike other screen recording tools, you can keep all conversations and context for each topic in one place at ease. If your conversation needs more than just a one-way message and it is worth keeping track of it, Tape is just the right solution for you. Let’s say you found a bug. You would record a quick video on how to reproduce it. With Tape, the engineer can also reply back to you with a video to show you that it is fixed in the thread. πŸ’ͺ Here are what you can expect from using Tape βœ… Working together on your own time βœ… Keeping track of all context for each topic in one thread βœ… Minimized interruptions - Clearly assign who to follow up for each topic and track all your follow-ups at a glance in the β€œInbox” βœ… Fostering transparency βœ… Sharing conversation with anyone through a link and getting replies back Eventually, you can spend far less time communicating and far more time creating. πŸ‘‚ We love to hear what you think! If you are interested in what we are doing or if you want to talk about what you are working on, please feel free to talk to me. I’m a person who just can’t stop loving and caring what others make as well.

Meetings are a pain for any orgz, this is why we don't do any at Crisp. What jay is doing is a super way to make organizations and internal collaboration much more powerful. Haven't been using the product yet but I'm pretty sure it's super powerful!
Jay Song
@ant0ine_gt Hey Antoine, thank you for your comment! Please try Tape. You won't go back to the sync days! Thank you for empower us with the abilities of engaging with the customers anytime anywhere!
Mateusz Kaliszewski
Wow, great idea. Most remote work apps have feature like talking, screensharing but nobody thought that we can do it asynchronously. It can be used e.g. for anyncheonous workshop? ;)
Jay Song
@m_kaliszewski I love your idea! Interacting realtime isn't always the best option. In many cases, you can have better interactions if you take a moment to understand and think in between the interactions. Maybe workshop is one of the examples. πŸ˜‰
Congratulations on the launch
Jay Song
@falak_sher Thank you Falak!
Theo Gravity
Congrats to the launch! I can see this as a useful tool for sharing design feedback - having the threaded video convos will help keep context and give a human element to critiques as it's hard to convey tone and voice in text and I've seen situations where someone may take what someone is writing the incorrect way.
Jay Song
@theogravity Thank you for your comment, Theo! Yeah, you got what we are trying to address! But before recording video was so much work but with Tape it's just a 2-click thing!
JeongSu Yun
@theogravity Hi, Theo. You are absolutely right! As you clearly pointed out, writing can possibly be misunderstood since it lacks that tone and voice! There's a famous saying, if I'm correct, "a picture is worth a thousand words." Then, how much is a video worth? 😎
Brittany Joiner {Britt the Builder}
This looks really cool! Is it a replacement for something like Loom?
Jay Song
@britt_joiner Hi Brittany, thank you for the comment! Not particularly, but I know it seem a lot like it. What we are trying to do here is making team communication better and less interrupting when even there are no restrictions on location and time. Exchanging video back and forth in the right way is the way we are introducing to you today and recording video is just a part, a big part, of it. Loom is great and we are even willing to use their API and SDK but we didn't want to let users go through all the extra steps to set up Loom before using Tape. Hope it answers your question!
Ankit Sharma
I had tried it in January and it is really helpful. Thanks and Congratulations 😍
