Stride is a new game for runners and walkers. The objective is simple: own the most tiles in your neighbourhood. To capture tiles just hit start and the app tracks your physical movement in the background.
Ive been using Sride ever since it rebirthed in beta and it's my go to running app mostly because it does inspire me to explore new runs away my boring south london routes!! LEGENDS! (the map social share is brilliant)
Creative idea! This is definitely exciting to learn about as a life-long, avid runner. My family has an active Strava group, and I have all of my devices sync with Strava. Is there a way or plans to connect with Strava? It is definitely a huge market of runners that are very competitive people. Great job with the app!
When I clicked on the Get It link and went to your website I only got the option to buy from the AppStore/PlayStore. I was never asked for the discount code so had to pay full price. Other than that it is interesting.
Any app that turns running into a game gets my vote. I played with this right back in its early days, and that initial seed of inspiration has turned into a very slick running game. See you out there!
Hi all - Ben here, one of the makers of Stride. We're really excited to be launching the full version today on Product Hunt. It's been a year of working to get the game to where it is, we're really proud of what we've achieved. You can now download for free on android or iOS.
Our mission with Stride is to make every run or walk an adventure. Whether you're exploring to find new routes, competing against a friend to own your suburb or looking for a social game there is always a reason to run with Stride.
We're running a one day only product hunt exclusive giveaway to win $100 in amazon vouchers and 5 free premium memberships. Every submission will receive a free 3 month premium membership: Win $100 and 5 free premium memberships
Thanks everyone, and let us know what of you think of Stride in the comments.
@ben_barker I have had a fun time with this product. It keeps my aunt and I motivated to run and overall it lets us compete against others that use it too. 😊
I’ve been trying Stride for about a week. It’s a fun app, but the Product Hunt promise of 3 free months was baloney. Your website link failed and I had to pay full price at the App Store. Good app but I will probably cancel because I feel misled.
I will second the “blast back to the original” comment. Having been with you guys since WAY early (pre-beta of the original) I was so happy to get back to simply collecting hexes. Seems silly but it is what drives me to dig just a little deeper every time. My wife just rolls her eyes when I say, “There is another hex just right over that hill!”
Being using it for more than a year, a great running/walking/hiking motivation tool, fun to play around in real world against opponents trying to stay healthy; a real battle of the hexes, a real life social network
@danischenker Hi Dani - if you're on iOS you can connect Strava via Apple Health. Or if you're using a different smart watch (Suunto, Polar) your better off connecting directly via Apple Health. If you're on Android then we're going to be integrating Google Fit in the coming months.
I've been super excited for this launch to give Stride a try, especially with spring right around the corner up here in Canada 🇨🇦 One of my favourite aspects of the Strava app are the Local Legend statuses, but they don't happen frequently enough or keep me motivated/aware of what turf I should be going after, as the gamified aspects of the app are tertiary to the route tracking and data. Stride feels like a great alternative, so I'm excited to give it a shot—will report back in two weeks with how my runs have gone 🏃
Wow, this app has come a long way! I used Run an Empire for a while but grew bored without any good competition. I'm looking forward to getting out and using Strides with the family and the dog to take over the neighborhood and local trails.
