Awesome! I've been really wanting a Smiirl or Fliike, but they are FB/Twitter/Instagram only. We want it to show revenue, support queue length, and more. So, the API is perfect!
I know you probably aren't looking for feature requests, but I really wish there were better icons on the left side than all those Twitter/FB/etc in different languages. If there were just random icons (from, say, https://linearicons.com/), I would have been much more likely to buy. (I did buy.. but I hesitated a lot :) ) Or even 4-5 blank ones that we could put our own stickers on. (Also, minor quibble, but it seems weird to have a + but no - symbol).
In-store/shop is a great market, but I think you also have a big "company stats dashboard" market as well :)
@joshdance we wanted to create a device customisable and easy to use for businesses in order to facilitate and empower in-store customer engagement. And have fun doing it :) we come from software industry, discovering the hardware have been a real challenge but a great adventure.
Love the product but I can think of a lot better uses for that kind of money.
Regardless, what's the marketing premise? That people will see it in your store and then follow you on social media to see it tick over?
If so, then so what? It's basically an expensive sign that says "Follow us on social media." I'd rather give them a reason to follow (and *engage* with) you and raffle off that $450 in "store" credit" to one of our followers. Or something.
Again, love the product execution and would absolutely buy it and use it as a dynamic "cow bell" in our offices to keep track of new signups, but I don't buy the marketing side of it. But I could be (and often am) missing something. :)
I have a Smiirl and while I love the product, this FlapIt seems to address the significant issues Smiirl has such as no API and support for only Facebook. It's a similar price so if I was going to buy another one (and I might), I'd give this a try.
@chrisavignon It would be a better difference, if they is any service. Smirl is still in business...are you ? I am not getting any service, feedback or support...since month...
The yelp integration is a very good idea! I hope that all the restaurants in my neighbourhood will get this tool.
Right now, I have to check manually on my phone each time before coming in a new restaurant/bar!
@chrisavignon@peterschussheim I think Peter is referring to: can someone hack the device and change the counter via wifi or bluetooth? How is the data received by the device? Fair question.
I love the product. This should work if for example i would call the api from an ios app to count real time downloads of that app, right? Excellent work guys!
Site states that it is "A Powerful Marketing Tool" - how so?
I'd see this sitting in a company's reception or on someones desk.
Is there a business behind this or is it just producing a fun product? Where do you think you could take Flapit? @chrisavignon
@bentossell Flapit allows you to engage people with your social pages in an original way in offline environments where existing solutions fall short. It’s an attention grabbing device that updates in real-time when a social engagement takes place, is able to send respond messages when customers like your page and can be customised or embedded into specific campaigns. Most of all, it is powerful because it leverages the most valuable brick and mortar asset: the physical store. Flapit helps by converting quality store traffic into social followers. Reaching these people through social ad campaigns is expensive and not always effective.
@chrisavignon I'm not sure I'd view it as powerful for a person to go into the store, follow the brand and see it change. I like the more personal touch of it though over an ad campaign, but I do think these are completely different scenario's and not really comparable.
This is pretty cool and maybe this is thinking too broadly but I would love if something like this existed that could be integrated with an arbitrary webhook so I could display data custom to my operation, like sales or signups to my own app etc.
@chrisavignon doable as in something you can already do with this device or as in something that could be added to this device with software or as in something a future device could support?
Love the idea here. We all know users love social proof, so bringing that front and centre to the offline world makes total sense. Plus I love the old school flap mechanism over a digital counter, this helps reinforce the real world aspect for me.
Not sure it's worth the price at £299, but would definitely be interested if I was a shop owner and the price was a bit more reasonable.
Cool product 👌
Thx for the hunt @vivianroldo!
Happy to be part of the community @producthunt
In short, You can connect the counter to your social media pages, custom message and our api enable you to connect the device to any kind of data. 😖
Should you have any questions....
Cheers!
@chrisavignon@vivianroldo@producthunt
I love this product..
Because I love great ideas especially when implement to create high quality products such as this one!
I have an idea for an application of your existing product that I did not see highlighted here..
Please consider the following..
Based on my own personal experience I believe your technology will hold great place in..
Food trucks!..
Because food trucks are trending and reliant heavily on social media for marketing..
I hope this helps!
Thanks,

@chrisavignon@vivianroldo@producthunt I love the idea when I got the chance to see it work at CES. However when I explored it more I saw the price. Why such a high price?
@tahatayyab despite the obvious differences... it depend if you are a brick and mortar business who want to increase in store traffic and customer engagement or a business owner who wants to motivate sales team or have a fun counter to track social media activities.
