Thx for the hunt @vivianroldo!
Happy to be part of the community @producthunt
In short, You can connect the counter to your social media pages, custom message and our api enable you to connect the device to any kind of data. 😖
Should you have any questions....
Cheers!

I love this product..
Because I love great ideas especially when implement to create high quality products such as this one!
I have an idea for an application of your existing product that I did not see highlighted here..
Please consider the following..
Based on my own personal experience I believe your technology will hold great place in..
Food trucks!..
Because food trucks are trending and reliant heavily on social media for marketing..
I hope this helps!
Thanks,

@chrisavignon@vivianroldo@producthunt I love the idea when I got the chance to see it work at CES. However when I explored it more I saw the price. Why such a high price?
@bob6664569 we are not, its a cool product but completely different, with Flapit you can track any data with the API, in addition to the 6 digits you can connect to 11 SM platforms, trigger IFTT, manage multiple devices from the same admin. We also have letters to act as more of a signage device than just a counter.
@chrisavignon@bob6664569 Seems a bit far fetched to say it's "completely different". It's actually VERY similar and I believe very inspired from Smiirl since they have been in business for quite some time. Though I think 11 SM platforms is excessive, I like the "signage" feature, could be nice for event locations which need to regularly change their signage.
@tom_jacquesson@bob6664569 Our customers range from retail stores to hospitality businesses including restaurants, bars, cafés and hotels, but also a significant number of agencies and offices. The use will vary from showcasing review scores (Yelp/Tripadvisor/Zomato) or social following (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram) to engaging with customers by displaying price points or discounts or a simple welcome message.
Love the idea here. We all know users love social proof, so bringing that front and centre to the offline world makes total sense. Plus I love the old school flap mechanism over a digital counter, this helps reinforce the real world aspect for me.
Not sure it's worth the price at £299, but would definitely be interested if I was a shop owner and the price was a bit more reasonable.
Cool product 👌
@tahatayyab despite the obvious differences... it depend if you are a brick and mortar business who want to increase in store traffic and customer engagement or a business owner who wants to motivate sales team or have a fun counter to track social media activities.
This is kinda cool, but why limit it to social accounts? I'd love to integrate this with our CRM so it can display how many sales we've made or users we've acquired. I'd say this delivers more value as a motivational tool than a social engagement tool.
My boss ordered one and it came last week at the pre-launch price - the full retail price on the site is to high IMO. FB, Twitter and Instagram were easy to integrate. Couldn't get Google Analytics to work - the config page just looped on the authentication process. (I haven't contacted support - we ended up just using our own user count via the api) Sending our current user count to it via the API and a cron job was super easy also. Our only complaint is it's a bit loud when "flapping" - It's in the boss's office now and I can hear it all the way from my office - over 20 feet away. Not super annoying, but consider where you might put it and who around it might be annoyed by it. I suggested to the boss we try to take it apart and put a bit of felt fabric at the bottom on the back of each plastic card but he didn't want to screw around with it. ( 2 cents )
This is pretty cool and maybe this is thinking too broadly but I would love if something like this existed that could be integrated with an arbitrary webhook so I could display data custom to my operation, like sales or signups to my own app etc.
@chrisavignon doable as in something you can already do with this device or as in something that could be added to this device with software or as in something a future device could support?
I really love the product, the only problem I see with it is the price.
I think most people would love to set it up as a cool gadget at the office.
I have 5 facebook pages; would it be possible to aggregate all the likes and have only 1 counter with the total?
@fabrice_mayrand would love that too. We were talking only yesterday to put a counter on our website, counting the points of engagement we are creating for our clients. This would be a cool tool to have in reception, when clients walk in but it does need the aggregation feature.
@chrisavignon@peterschussheim I think Peter is referring to: can someone hack the device and change the counter via wifi or bluetooth? How is the data received by the device? Fair question.
@flapitcounter, I was about to order FlapIt but than I realized that the backend is on your server (https://www.flapit.com/de/flapmenow). So let's image you're going out of business next year (and I really don't hope that for you - it's just what sometimes happens to startups) my counter is un-configurable and useless. Is there any way how I can cut any tie to your infrastructure once I own the hardware?
I saw a similar project on Kickstarter about a year ago, but this one is really special because it uses not just a digital screen but the physical flap mechanism which is really cool. I guess I can follow and unfollow my account each second just to see how the mechanism works again and again :) Good luck, guys!
Site states that it is "A Powerful Marketing Tool" - how so?
I'd see this sitting in a company's reception or on someones desk.
Is there a business behind this or is it just producing a fun product? Where do you think you could take Flapit? @chrisavignon
@bentossell Flapit allows you to engage people with your social pages in an original way in offline environments where existing solutions fall short. It’s an attention grabbing device that updates in real-time when a social engagement takes place, is able to send respond messages when customers like your page and can be customised or embedded into specific campaigns. Most of all, it is powerful because it leverages the most valuable brick and mortar asset: the physical store. Flapit helps by converting quality store traffic into social followers. Reaching these people through social ad campaigns is expensive and not always effective.
@chrisavignon I'm not sure I'd view it as powerful for a person to go into the store, follow the brand and see it change. I like the more personal touch of it though over an ad campaign, but I do think these are completely different scenario's and not really comparable.
