@menjilx Have they worked out their stability issues? Just glancing at https://www.producthunt.com/post... and seeing the thread...
Menj
@gregw They just released a fixed and updates last April 4.

This looks fantastic, just what I've been looking for. I'll try it out for a bit first but I think I will probably upgrade eventually. It would be good if it could sync with other services and apps found here on PH such as "30 Seconds of Code" and "Code My UI" as they look like great resources to get code, some of which I'll save in this app.

Guys, you NEED to be offering your full version for free for 90 days at least while we are all home with the COVID lockdown. Everyone else is doing that and it's going to translate into bigger profits for you AFTER this is over once everyone is using it. Doing that will also put you on all of the Free COVID Resources pages out there, which is free and viral marketing right now. You're not asking a lot and we will be happy to pay it once we A) have had time to make it a part of our workflow, and B) start having an income again.
Andrey Teologov
@gregw Thank you for the idea, I'll think about it. Greg, could you please share one of those lists? )
Andrey Teologov
@gregw Thank you!

Not ready for prime time yet IMO. Definitely has potential. But with a mature $9 one-time alternative, not ready to pay monthly or yearly yet. Import snippet function doesn't work for me. Select from menu and nothing happens. Going to get all your Gists to start you out in a solid place would be a great onboarding path to get you using the app from Day 1. Congrats on PH rank and the positive momentum so far. Hope it helps in being able to make some room to make the product even better.

@kylemhudson Thank you for the feedback and a bug report!

What's the difference between SnipperApp 2 and SnippetsLab ?
Andrรฉ Pinto
@iskh020 The price for starters. This is so expensive ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I'm using SnippetsLab that I bought for a one time price for a long time. It has so much more customizations. Sorry guys, your UI is a little bit better but it's just that.
Andrey Teologov
@iskh020 @apinix @ryan_roberts1 SnippetsLab is a great product. The main difference is in the UI and how the synchronization with cloud services work. I decided to build SnipperApp to make UX more intuitive, I always had a feeling SnippetsLab is too heavy for me. SnipperApp has a full synchronization with GitHub Gists and iCloud. For instance, it automatically synchronizes your local gist storage with a remote one. The app is offline-first and it allows you to quickly sync user's changes once the user is back online. The iCloud storage is implemented using CloudKit, which allows implementing the sharing of snippets via iCloud. SnipperApp 2 is under active development and there are many other unique features in my backlog to be added : )
Andrey Teologov
@iskh020 @ryan_roberts1 @apinix It took more than 4 years for SnippetsLab to get to the point where they are. SnipperApp is moving much faster thanks to customers. And there will be always a free plan available ; )

๐Ÿ‘‹Hi PH! Andrey here, founder @ SnipperApp. First of all, I hope everyone is staying safe! Today I am super excited to share with you SnipperApp 2 ๐ŸŽ‰ In this major upgrade, we were focused on polishing the app based on the received feedback and feature requests. SnipperApp 2 is a native code snippets manager, built with Swift for macOS exclusively, aiming to be a single tool for saving your day to day working notes, snippets of code, and just a good helper in the developer's life. It is designed to support multiple storage locations. Local, iCloud and GitHub storages are available for you. SnipperApp 2 is the offline-first application, and it allows you to work with the iCloud and GitHub storage even without an internet connection. All changes can be synced to iCloud and GitHub once the internet connection is restored. Now SnipperApp 2 has full integration with GitHub Gists. Create a new snippet in the SnipperApp 2 GitHub storage, and it will be automatically synced to your GitHub Gists. We've also reworked from scratch the Markdown parser. Now markdown snippets support indented and fenced code blocks when writing a markdown or when switched to a preview mode. The new menubar app allows you to quickly search for the required snippet and copy it to the clipboard when needed. There are many other functional and UX enhancements, so check them out! I appreciate your feedback and thoughts about it ๐Ÿ’œ Best, Andrey Teologov

Awesome product, using it for almost year! Well done guys ๐Ÿ–ค! ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ

Far, far, far too expensive if you ask me. Even at the yearly cost for lifetime access. : /

I'm currently using CodeBox Snippets Manager and had been looking at MassCode but will check this out too.
Andrey Teologov
@j_holtslander Please, let me know what are your thoughts about it. Thanks!
David Gay
Always appreciate checking out new snippets tools. I haven't found one that works for me yet. I would be more inclined to properly evaluate this product if the free version had unlimited tags. I feel like the paid tiers have enough benefits to give reason to pay without restricting tag count.
Andrey Teologov
@davidgay Thank you for feedback, David! I'll think about it ๐Ÿค”. Meanwhile, if you would like to check out the full version, every paid tier has a free trial period without any initial charging.

@davidgay What do you think is missing in all the different alternatives out there?
David Gay
@becomeferus Well, I haven't tried _all_ of them, and I haven't given SnipperApp a proper go yet, but two things I would like in a snippets tool are: (1) Ability to use a shortcut from any app to open a text field to search snippets, then a keystroke to copy the selected snippet into the clipboard or paste it into the active app (probably via helper running in the background, like Things and 1Password do), and (2) Ability to add clickable URLs to snippet metadata as "references", for instance a Stack Overflow question or GitHub file, perhaps with an accompanying note.
Andrey Teologov
@davidgay thanks for the provided details! This is definitely in my backlog now.
