@stephen_genest seems super practical, espcially if you are travel a lot, especially for a group. How long can it be used for on one charge, approximately?
Stephen Genest
@elijah_dippenaar Thanks for the question. The Solis X will give you 16+ hours of battery life. Charging devices would obviously decrease that.

I like it, but it's $180 plus $9/day. So a week in London would cost you $243. Free Wi-Fi at the hotel and a T-Mobile phone is significantly less expensive and more flexible, although T-Mobile global roaming plods along at slow-poke 2G speeds.
Stephen Genest
@ubercool Skyroam actually has 3 different service options to help you only pay for the service you need. Beyond the $9/day unlimited Day Pass we also have our GoData plan that allows you to pay per GB, starting at $9/month for the first GB and then an additional $9/GB after. Our 3rd option is designed for our frequent, high data, users and provides month long unlimited service at $99/month. Although GoData and our unlimited monthly service are subscriptions, Skyroam has no contracts so you can cancel anytime.

This looks like an awesome idea and great for traveling! I especially like how it includes a power bank since that's definitely something I always keep with me on trips so having it combined helps. Excited to check it out.

Mobile site has a large banner covering the rest of the info... I'd love to get it, but can't! (Moto G5+, Android 8.1)

@positivelysue Hi Sue, it's just a pop-up lightbox, hopefully you can click the X in the top corner, or if you log back in it might not show up for a return visitor. Alternatively, try desktop!

As a full time traveler with a remote business, this is absolutely brilliant. would love to help you spread your product

Do I need to buy a subscription from you or can I add a SIM card from my own provider?
Jason Heydasch
@skavhellen Quick scan of the site says it uses virtual SIM. Looks like its own firmware automatically selects the best network/connection in 130+ countries. I'm intrigued.
Stephen Genest
@skavhellen @jheydasch That is correct. We offer 3 service options that allow you to buy service by the day, month, or the GB.

I can't seem to find a list on the company site of which networks this uses in the U. S. or of the expected speeds. Where I am at some networks are extremely poor. Does the device select the fastest available 4G/LTE network? Or just the cheapest for Skyroam? Also, will the device be compatible with 5G standards?
Stephen Genest
@croldham we do not disclose our carrier partners, but yes, Skyroam through it’s Virtual SIM tech will connect you to the best local network available. Regarding your low coverage area, it does require cellular towers to work, so if there is an area with no access to cellular coverage at all, it will not work. The Solis X is not 5G compatible today

I have been looking at the reviews on this before it was here on product hunt and it looks great. How does it work in USA though? I am often in areas which have awful wi fi
Stephen Genest
@susan_cingari_mma_mustlovemma_ Thank you for the question. We actually have more usage in the USA than any other country. It can be a great solution for working out of the home or office as it is more secure than public WiFi networks. It is also great for areas where your normal mobile carrier has bad service quality as the Skyroam service can switch from different carriers to provide the best available wifi service

Great product! Was waiting for something like this for a long time. How fast will the internet be?
Mary Going
With a $99 unlimited plan, can I use it with an always-on Nest Cam?
Stephen Genest
@mary_going1 Sorry for the late reply, but the short answer is yes! We have actually added new features to the camera since launch with more coming very soon
