Sift — Automatic refunds from hidden credit card benefits
Featured
87

Sift automatically gets you money back when prices drop and unlocks all the other great hidden benefits that you probably were not aware of! Sift analyzes hidden benefits that are buried in complex credit card policies and files the appropriate claims on user’s behalf, getting consumers back tens of billions currently left on the table every year.

I’ve used Sift and made a claim: http://d.pr/i/vjxknD . Yay! But the GIF on the top left has left me blinded :-)
abhinavdubey
@cherianthomas thanks Cherian! I have been looking at the gif all day and am pretty much blind in both eyes! ;)
Cole Mercer
No Android yet?
abhinavdubey
@colemercer coming soon. Web app will probably be available in a few weeks!
Rodolfo Rosini
Who are your paying customers? Presumably your business model is harvesting the data of the cards and then sell intelligence to retailers, brands, and advertisers.
abhinavdubey
@rodolfor the service is free but we plan to charge a success fee when we get you some money back.
Maxime Braud
Great work guys 🙌

Been using this for a couple weeks now and just got a check in the mail from my credit card company. Huge fan!

Keep up the good work

Pros:

I love getting the refunds

Cons:

waiting for the android build so I can use this on my work phone

Mikko Alasaarela
Awesome work. 2 questions: 1) are you planning to expand to European markets? 2) ETA for Android app?
abhinavdubey
@alasaarela Thanks, Mikko! 1) We would love to expand but we have our hands full in the US market! We are studying credit card adoption + benefits outside of the US and will have a plan soon 2) Web + Android coming in a month or so.

I Wish it is available in Canada...
Jon Abrams
It keeps badgering me about a price reduction on a product I already returned to Amazon. How do I tell it to ignore that purchase?
Janne Salminen
@jonathanabrams If you want to stop tracking a product, you need to go to the purchases screen, and swipe left on top of the product that you want to stop tracking and select "dont track". Or go to the product details view of that product and click the menu on top right corner and select "dont track". i hope this solves the issue for you

Pricing?
abhinavdubey
@amyers for now it is free. We plan on charging some kind of success fee in the future.

In the spirit of trying out new apps on the market, I happened to stumble upon Sift. Love what they are trying to do.. and there's just so much more that they can build on top of this. (Please support AMEX Jet Privileges card.. i had to use my dad's card to use your app :P)
abhinavdubey
@91bilal Thanks Mohammed we are adding credit cards all the time and will add this to the list! Feel free to emails any other ideas and suggestions to me at abhinav@siftwallet.com

Hi @jannsalm & @abhinavdubey, congrats on your launch anniversary for Sift 🎉 What are your highlights from the past year? Epic Wins 🏆 1. 2. 3. Epic Fails 💩 1. 2. 3. What advice would you give to founders launching today? (...or yourself a year ago 🤔) What's the next year look like for Sift? 🚀
Charles Magnuson
Doesn't work with an Amazon card from Chase. 🙁 http://ca.mag.cm/0d26113N2Z0C http://ca.mag.cm/003V3R2G1p3o Also, the amount and frequency of push notifications is just stupid. I'm receiving "package delivered" notifications for stuff I received over a month ago. I wish I could downvote this product.
Nick Kwan
@abhinavdubey any comment on this? I'm also a CSR'r like @magnuson (which is prob the most popular card for users of PH tbh), but I am using the Amazon Prime Chase card, and doing a ton of Amazon. Thus, Charles' application is probably the most common out of any use cases considering how much we all use Amazon...
Nick Kwan
@abhinavdubey @magnuson ah, sounds like Chase cards aren't supported. Bummer. https://siftwallet.zendesk.com/h...
Janne Salminen
@abhinavdubey @magnuson @nwkwan Chase cards are supported and most of the chase card has price protection. However Amazon Chase Card does not offer price protection and thus we can not claim price drops with that. If you would use Chase Sapphire or other chase cards, we would be able to do it even with Amazon purchases
Janne Salminen
@abhinavdubey @magnuson @nwkwan Also you can personalize the notifications from Profile -> Settings-> notifications settings. Getting notifications for 1 month old deliveries obviously is a bug. We will have a look on that. Thanks for pointing that out
Nick Kwan
@abhinavdubey @magnuson @jannsalm Wow verrry interesting regarding no price protection. Didn't know that. Do you have a gut feeling / real data that shows if the typical price protection refund with Amazon is greater than 4% over time? If so, it'd thus be better to purchase with the CSR (1% back) compared with the Amazon card (5% back).
Christopher Leach
Love this app! been using it for a couple of weeks and recommending it to people because it's so useful!
Janne Salminen
Thanks @leachy114 . So happy to hear that you like it
Kal Freese
This is really neat! Does it only work with credit cards? Ie. Not debit
abhinavdubey
@kallefreese it essentially unlocks whatever benefits are available on your payment type (debit or credit) and also unlocks any applicable retailer policies (e.g. price match, return policies etc..). So say that you have a debit card with no insurance benefits and the price drops for something at Target within their 2-week price match window- we would automatically file a claim on your behalf!
Prasant Lokinendi

Keep up the good work and maybe work on the UI of the app a little more. The value prop is great, but I often times am incredibly confused by what I should be tapping.

Pros:

I've gotten back at least $100 over the past 3-6 months.

Cons:

It's already a great product! Only cons I can think of are that I'd like the price monitoring to apply to a wider variety of storefronts.

aggieben
Love the concept; can't get on board with giving the kind of access to my email account they're asking for.
Bikram Agarwal
I have two factor authentication enabled on my Amazon account. When I tried to link my Amazon account with Sift, it asked me fill a captha after entering email id + password and then it prompted for the 2FA code. But then it rejecting the 2FA codes, saying it is wrong. I tried 3-4 times, in 10 minute intervals. The 2FA codes are not wrong. Also, I wish there was a way to do what this app does, without giving it full access to our entire mail inbox.
abhinavdubey
@vicky_buddie Hi Bikram this should be fixed. If you still have a problem then email us at support@siftwallet.com. Thanks!
Joey Figaro
Are you guys also shopinbox.io, or did you lift their privacy/terms?
abhinavdubey
@joeyfigaro that is our old name/website!
