Build secure portals for customers, partners, and vendors in hours, not weeks. Retool now helps you create a branded, logged-in experience with any dashboard, flow, or feature you want to get in front of customers.
Hi, Product Hunt!
I’m Antony from the product team at Retool, and I’m so excited to share how you can build portals and business software for your customers, partners, and vendors – faster – with the addition of our two latest products, Retool Portals and Retool Embed.
Now you can build dashboards in Retool and instantly wire them up with built-in authentication, permissions, and branding to ship a custom portal or augment your existing products. It’s fast, secure, and a better choice for developers than having to build everything from scratch.
Retool Portals
Design your frontend with 100+ prebuilt UI components, then switch to code to transform your data and write custom business logic. If you’re hosting your portal fully on Retool, Retool Portals manages signup, authentication, and permissions out of the box, making it more than possible to build a secure portal in a few hours (vs weeks).
Retool Embed
Let’s say you already have an existing app or portal but want to add data, tools, or CRUD functionality quickly. With Retool Embed, you can build out dashboards, forms, and more—and instantly drop them into your software.
Why we built Retool Portals and Retool Embed
We started Retool to help developers build internal tools faster, and have helped tens of thousands of teams reduce complexity, maintenance, and costs along the way. But it’s been impossible to ignore that developers experience these same frustrations when building software for their external users.
So we thought about the functional enhancements we could make to the Retool platform—powering over 500k internal apps today—to solve these same problems for businesses building customer-facing software. Over the last several years, we’ve improved Retool’s speed, flexibility, and security, and feel confident in expanding Retool’s vision. We’re going beyond internal tools to empower developers to build nearly any software for their business—faster.
Get started
If you’re ready to build, you can build a hosted portal on Retool and embed your first Retool app today. Both Retool Embed and Retool Portals (beta) are available across Business and Enterprise plans.

@nathan_clevenger Right now, external users cost the same as end users on our Business plan, but there's high variance in how our customers price their products, or they might not price them at all. Our team has worked with many customers to make pricing make sense - welcome folks who want to work with us to find a fit! antony@retool.com
Wow! I'm absolutely thrilled with Retool's new Portal and Embed addition! As a long-time user, I can confidently say that Retool is an awesome tool that has consistently exceeded my expectations. The software itself is nothing short of 5 stars, and I must commend the amazing team behind it for their dedication and hard work.
Congratulations on the launch of the new software! It's a remarkable addition that further enhances the already impressive capabilities of Retool. I'm excited to explore its features and leverage its potential for streamlining my workflows and boosting productivity.
Thank you for continuously improving and innovating. Retool truly stands out as a game-changer in the development community. Keep up the fantastic work!
We use Retool extensively at CustomerGlu and one thing we've felt lacking is a higher degree of design customizability to match the dashboard to the brand. Happy to see this update and can't wait to give this a try!
@tatiana_stronskaya Hi Tatyana! Details in our docs, but the short of it is that Retool Portals is a way to take existing Retool applications and expose them to your customers. The same Retool principles around app building still apply:
1. Connect to your data sources and APIs
2. Use our flexible drag-and-drop UI builder with prebuilt component to build your UI
3. Wire up your logic with a little bit of JS and SQL
Here's our quickstart guide on building the apps. Depending on where you'd want to go (Embed or Portals), you could embed the application in existing tools, or whitelabel your Retool organization to let Retool serve as the portal itself. Hope that helps!
..Impressive! Check my site wikigpt3.com and email me your app details and I can help get your app listed on my directory and other 100+ AI directories. Feel free to reply if you want to know more.
Wow, 'Retool Portals' seems like an incredible tool for rapidly building secure and personalized customer portals! Kudos to the team for making this process so efficient! 💪👏
Whats up Antony and Team!
Congrats on the launch of Retool Portals and Retool Embed! Definitely a game-changer for businesses looking to build custom portals in record time.
I have a few feature suggestions for Retool:
1. Integration Support: Consider expanding the number of integrations supported by Retool. The more services that Retool can seamlessly connect with, the more useful it becomes to businesses with a variety of tech stacks.
2. Template Marketplace: You could consider creating a marketplace for Retool templates. This would allow developers to sell their own custom-built Retool applications, and businesses to quickly buy and implement solutions that fit their needs.
3. White-Labeling: Offering a white-label solution could attract larger businesses that want to use Retool's functionality but maintain their own branding throughout their software.
4. Training and Certification Program: Consider providing a certification program for developers. This could encourage more developers to learn how to use Retool, increase the platform's user base, and ensure quality control within the ecosystem. Probably going to be more prevalent as more no-code platforms appear that don't require full stacks.
Furthermore, I wanted to mention that my startup, ezML, specializes in computer vision integration for apps. If you're interested in exploring opportunities for collaboration or integration, we would be happy to discuss it further. We're launching soon so I hope you can support and press notify! Looking forward to see where this goes. huge potential.
Great work on the launch! I think Retool has earned its place in the market by making such a great product. Could you share some of the things you think Retool doesn't do so well that you want to improve?
