Hello Product Hunt!

With Media Parser, we want to innovate video processing in the browser.

Traditionally, video operations such as trimming, cropping, and converting are done on the server, even though the browser has all the APIs to do it just as fast.

The problem: To use the browser's video decoding capabilities, you need to prepare the data to be in the right format. For each of the various video container formats, a separate implementation is needed. We take care of this!

Remotion Media Parser is the first multimedia library which was specifically designed for JavaScript and for use with the WebCodecs API, making it intuitive for web developers and meeting their expectations.

With remotion.dev/convert, we built the fastest video conversion website in the world, working offline and taking advantage of the hardware capabilities of your computer.

It's a powerful demonstration of what you can do with WebCodecs. We think that with this launch, we're massively lowering the barrier for developers to leverage this API!

I'm a big fan and supporter of Remotion. It is the library I used to build my promo vid maker (paracast). If there was no Remotion, my business would not exist.

Huge thanks to Jonny and the team. You are my heroes!! 🦸🦸🦸 Good luck!!

I've been following the development of this product for almost a year now!

This is gonna be a foundation of a lot of cool things. And I imagine how much CPU time is gonna be saved in datacenters when using Webcodecs. Local-first video ops FTW!

Congrats on the launch and thanks for the hard work @jonnyburger!
