Remotely helps teams build better connections with remote teammates. See where they are, what time it is and when they were last online, every time you open a new tab.

I like this a lot. I currently use https://github.com/scotato/sleeper to keep my new tabs clean and non-distracting. But this is a perfect use of a new tab. Gives you a feeling of connectedness with your team around the world without getting up in your face. Nicely done.

Hi ProductHunt 👋 Remotely started with a single idea: What time is it in Mexico and how will I know when Patrick is online? It was an experiment during a hack week to build the simplest possible solution to a problem we faced. At the same time we'd been talking to a bunch of remote teams. From big to small they all said the same thing: we've adapted to working from home but I'm still lonely, I miss the office. We thought everything Remotely does today would be the perfect fit to solve their problems: 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Getting started: There's no setup for your team as Remotely connects with your Google Workspace and shows you everyone in the same domain and where they're based. 🗺 Map: See people on the map. Click their faces to fly to their location. Get useful information on their timezone, activity, and much more to come... 🌒 Dark mode: Let's face it someone would have complained otherwise. We've started using this internally and it's been going really well so we decided to share it with the PH community. I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback - or better yet have you onboard as an early user! David

Love this! A nice way of ambiently visualising where the team are and who's online without the weight of needing to install a new app. Super elegant solution.

@davej thanks Dave! The light touch was something we really thought about when determining the best way to do this so glad that you like it 🤗

I spent the last year working across 5 different time zones (EST, CST, IST, and both sides of Australia). When you have teammates dispersed across the globe, managing time zones becomes intractable. This is such a simple yet powerful tool-- I wish you released this months ago

Really interesting idea. And opening a new tab is a great in-between time for it!

Love the launch! A customized setting option would be great to use remotely for non work related information about my contacts!

@guptaakshitaa what kind of things had you in mind?

With the ongoing pandemic, all my teammates are in different locations and this product makes my work so much easier. Not only does it save me from communicating with every single teammate individually to know what time will be convenient for them but also helps me divide the work according to availability which makes the process much more efficient.

I love reading about products that were developed to solve an individual problem turning into useful tools to help entire communities. Great job! as my teammates are not spread across the globe, I was thinking about using Remotely for private contacts 🤔

@felicitashilge Hi! Glad that you like it. That's a great suggestion we're certainly considering adding the ability to make custom groups that aren't based off a single domain. I will be sure to send it to you when we get around to building it
Felicitas Hilge
@davidnewell95 Thank you for your reply and offering to keep me posted. Looking forward to hearing about it.

@trevorfrench we’ve a lot! Sharing your map on the teams About Us page, adding stories, Slack auth instead of Google, telling you when you’re both next online…Any others you’d like to see?

A simple yet effective product, specially with the rise in remote work it becomes very important to have a track of time zones of coworkers and assign tasks accordingly for a seamless workflow and optimized productivity

@himanshu_jain91 for sure! That was the original thinking behind Remotely - how do I know when someone is working? With async work it's important to know when someone is going to be online, but also that you don't disturb them when they're not :)
