Recall is a note-taking tool focused on building knowledge on topics of interest to you, from movies and recipes to the latest crypto or anything else you find interesting and want to stay informed about.
@kingdamiyr Thanks for the message. The main similarity Recall has with Obsidian is the bidirectional linking which a lot of newer note taking app have.
What sets Recall is apart is that you can start a note about something with summarized information from online sources. It then automatically finds connections between your new note and existing notes and it categorizes the note into a standardized schema using types from https://schema.org/.
A key focus for Recall is to help you get the most out of a note by resurfacing it when its relevant. Soon we are launching news subscription so you can stay informed on news related to a note.
@paul_richards1 love that - just signed up and trying it out as we speak. Is there a bubble mapping graphical feature and I'm missing it? Or is the bidirectional linking only in the cards?
Desktop and mobile apps on queue? How much parity they would have off each other?
Encouraging opportunity to do a few things better than the opportunity of the hour..
@lyondhur Right now Recall is a PWA, a mobile version is in the pipeline but will still be a while before it's ready. The plan would be to have mostly the same features on mobile (except the browser extension part). Hope this answers your question.
Hi! I've been using Recall ever since it's launch and liking every part of it. The web-enriched notes, collections, subscribe option, links, easily editable. It is in my daily routine now and I love spending time building/managing knowledge. I hope it becomes something way more powerful and deeply helpful.
What I couldn't find:
- Pricing structure: Where to use this promocode. What happens after 3 months? Do you offer a free-tier or yearly or lifetime subscription? I will be really sad to see it gone after 3 months or locked behind a huge price.
- Social: I could only found your email & Twitter. Perhaps you have a small team and I understand.
Suggestions:
- More clarity on data privacy.
- Get active on community engagement. Please! Get a discord server, a roadmap page, ask people to show their collections. Build a social experience around how people enjoy note-taking and knowledge management on recall. I'd do that if I was in your marketing team.
- Roadmap. Build in public, actively involve with community to get insights.
- Get our money, get paying customers. I'm willing to purchase, I'm sure a lot of others are also willing to pay. You have a great product, please make these things clear.
Best wishes!
@umar_muzaffar Awesome to hear that you are enjoying using Recall. I really appreciate you taking the time to writeup all your thoughts here :)
Pricing: the plan was to finish the features we currently have on the roadmap before releasing pricing options, but I will add a page to the site explaining this. There will always be a free tier for Recall but we want to monetize it with a freemium subscription where some features will require the paid version. Or perhaps we may do it on a storage limit, so after a certain amount of notes you will have to upgrade to the paid version. This is not decided yet and are we open for suggestions. What would you think is a fair monthly price to pay for Recall? We will never lock you out of your notes if you stop paying, so there will always be an export option or option to continue on a free tier.
That's a good idea for building the community more. I will spend some time adding more info to our website and we will let you know when the discord server is running.
@yaroslava Thank you. Mobile apps are in the roadmap, but realistically it will only be in the next couple on months. It is a PWA, so works quite well in the browser on mobile but there is still some work to be done.
1. What's the pricing after beta?
2. IF you ever decide to close the project, are you going to give your users enough time in advance to migrate? CAN you migrate in any way that's not manual?
3. Do you plan any integrations with Microsoft OneNote?
@desmondzik Hi Desmond,
1. I cannot say for sure as we don't know yet. There will definitely be a generous free tier. We plan to do a freemium pricing model.
2. We have no intensions to close the project but I realize that people have this fear. I am working on export feature so you can import your notes to other tools.
3. Not specifically at this stage. If OneNote can import .md files then you should be able to import the exported files from Recall.
Congrats on the launch! I've been using this for while and am an addict already β¦ π Any chance you will support non-English Wikipedias in the near (or not so near) future? Discogs support would come in handy as well. π Thanks for this game-changing research / notes app and all the best!
@skankinpenguin thanks for the awesome feedback and glad youβre enjoying it. We are planning to add different data sources as well as a chrome extension which will allow you to pull information from any data source- so hopefully this will help solve your wiki in another language problem :)
@limitcracker The app is free for now. We plan to monetize with a freemium model in the future. This coupon code will work in our checkout then (It's valid until the end of the year).
Congratulations! π The whole project really looks promising! Great idea & features, looks clean, and a solid roadmap..
π€βοΈ "Note-taking" almost always has a direct connection/correlation to the term, "knowledge", if we're taking-notes, we're learning... making it such a great idea, it's only natural it pulls wiki content - and adds it to our notes, ultimately π "adding-to" the knowledge around "x" topic/subject.
Great job! π₯π₯
π Excited to see what the future holds for Recall! I'll be sharing in the community, for sure!

π± after seeing a feature showcased in the video I went and looked more into it and holy moly this tool is like 100x more powerful than I first realized and I was really undervaluing the tool! This is nuts. Thank you!
@marketingxpert thank you very much for the feedback and glad you managed to unlock some of the power of Recall :) what do you think we could change to help people realize the benefits sooner ?
@svanschalkwyk Thanks for the message Steph! Currently linking to PDFs is not in our roadmap right now. If there is a lot of interest in this feature then we will definitely look at it.
Hey Product Hunt! π Paul here, the Recall co-founder!
TLDR: I built Recall because I wanted a note-taking tool where I could easily create notes and track information on things I am interested in.
If youβre anything like me, then everyday you learn about interesting new things (from blogs, podcasts, videos, etc.) that you pretty much forget by the next day π. The solution is obviously to write these things down somewhere. The problem is that overtime you write down so many things you cannot find the things you are looking for anymore so they are forgotten despite your efforts.
The aim of Recall is to help you find the things you write down when they are most relevant. This is done by:
π Letting you quickly create notes with summarized information from the web and then automatically creating bidirectional links with your existing notes that are related.
π Allowing you to subscribe to news updates on a note.
π A browser extension that highlights things that are mentioned on a page that also exists in your knowledge base (coming soon).
Right now, Recall is free to use and we guarantee that we'll always have a generous free plan. In the future, we plan to monetize Recall probably with a freemium pricing model.
@dynamicstutor Thanks for the comment :) Really glad to hear that you are enjoying it. There will always be a free tier, I don't want to commit to any pricing as I am just not sure yet. We will probably do a freemium model but not sure yet what features we will make premium. It will probably only be some of the new feature that are still in the pipeline.
@formentera The focus for now is on personal knowledge management so we have not added any collaboration features. This could be done further down the road, but we have other priorities at the moment.
