Well friends, it's been a wild 5 years, but we are growing up a little bit. I'm really curious how everyone out there is doing their email game when it comes to product and ecommerce emails. Before starting Fathom & Draft (my design studio), when I was on leadership at three different startups I was always hunting for the best in class emails that other products were sending out so I could improve our own email game. I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I launched it and got some friends to join in the mess with me! What's your typical flow for working on email designs and code for your product hunt products?

@whale One of my favourite resources (and the team here too!) Thanks for all the love you put into it! New design makes it a breeze to find stuff now πŸ‘Œ
Steve Palmer
@whale Such a great resource and it's been fun to see this evolve over the years. Nice work!
Matthew Smith
@mutlu82 Thank you so much for the positive response. Really appreciate it. We have put a lot of love into this and some blood and some tears and some grass clippings too. It's supposed to be good for the bones. What would make the site more useful to you on the regular?
Matthew Smith
@sonomavine Thank you Steve! really appreciate the response. What would make it an even more useful tool to you?
Julie Chabin
I really love Really Good Emails. The best place to find inspiration for emails for both design and copy.
Matthew Smith
@syswarren I love that you called out copy here. That's smart. Something for us to really think through as we continue to try and elevate our product. What would make the site even more useful for you?
Julie Chabin
@whale I must say it's already pretty useful as it is. Copy is 99% of the email, the visual matters but what truly makes a difference is the copy. On the previous version of RGE, I relied a lot on the categories because the message changes with the context and categories helped find good examples.
Matthew Smith
@syswarren So true. I'm a big proponent of copy IS design. So on the new site, categories don't seem to be working as well for you? Or are you having a harder time finding the categories? I'd love to make category use a primary tool and had thought it was, but want to make sure we're meeting everyone's needs :)
Julie Chabin
@whale Maybe it's the color that makes the new categories a bit harder to scan or the fact it's a long list on a separate page. It took me a while to find "Transactional" because it was in the "Miscellaneous" category. This being said, I really like how visible are the related categories on other pages. It's much better!
Matthew Smith
@syswarren Category refinement is on the top of the list! Thanks so much for great feedback.

Having a live code view and ability to create collections takes this to the next level. This is an indispensable tool for email/all marketers looking for inspiration. Love seeing this update to an already great site!
Matthew Smith
@jorge_selva Thank you Jorge! Super stoked you really enjoy using the site. What would make it even more useful for you? Hi five to Chicago!

Great work and huge UX improvement - well done Matt and team!
Matthew Smith
@robhope Thank you Rob. Some wins, some losses. We have a long way to go. Good luck with your own work as well!

I'm a big fan of your website and v2.0 is such a nice improvement. For some reason with the previous version I never could navigate categories pages. They would never load but now in v2.0 everything seems fine :) Congrats
Matthew Smith
@themesdepot Thanks so much! Love hearing this. What would make the site that much more useful to you?
Troy Petrunoff

Bless you. Just what I was *FRANTICALLY* looking for this morning, and it's front page on PH. I needed that inspiration aspect so bad. Thank you! Will come back often.

Fantastic work Matt, been browsing the platform for the past 30 minutes and I'm really loving the curated emails. As I am working on a retail-focused ESP, it seems that RGE will bring us a lot of value. Two questions: 1. How can a user submit a newsletter design? (didn't see any option for that) 2. How can ESPs (such as our startup Relevon.io, can advertise on RGE?) Keep up the excellent work!
Matthew Smith
@andrei_negrau thank you so much! Really appreciate it. We're having fun and working hard as a small team (all with full time jobs lol). 1. for now: send to hello at reallygoodemails.com as a URL, with an explanation, subject line, company URL, etc. We're getting submissions back up soon. It's on the roadmap ;) 2. Someone at your company reached out already, but in general again hello at reallygoodemails.com is the best way to get info on advertising. We have some very cool options there :)
Parth Shrivastava
Absolutely love Really Good Emails. The new interface looks catchy and good. It is very Pinterest-esque, hence easy to use and browse. Kudos guys, keep up the good work.
Matthew Smith
@parth_sh We're definitely borrowing heavily from Pinterest, Unsplash, Dribbble, etc. Lots to learn from our big brothers and sisters :)

The version we were all hoping for, where you can save emails in collections, is here! Rejoice!
Sharath Kuruganty
This is so cool. I always refer Really Good Emails for inspiration. Recently I started a newsletter for my product Really Good Questions and it's been a great help from you guys. Thanks for launching 2.0 and I'm super excited to check the new version. The site looks great. Congrats πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ
Matthew Smith
@5harath This is genius! Love it. I'll follow right away. What are you learning?!
Sharath Kuruganty
Thanks @whale for subscribing to the newsletter πŸ™πŸΌ I'm learning a ton while going through these interesting questions. More than that I'm learning how to interact with people, sharping my eye towards great valuable things fueling my curiosity. I always feel twitter as a platform where like-minded people gather together and provide value to each other. I'm one of them and I wanted to capture everything I found interesting in one place. That's the fundamental reason I made Really Good Questions. Hope you get value as well. Thanks again πŸ™ŒπŸΌ
