I listened to this yesterday. I didn't know BuzzFeed started as a technology side project while Jonah worked at HuffPo.

@rrhoover I knew it was a side project but not that it started in 2006. As content marketer myself, I'm a big fan of Jonah and BuzzFeed, their evolution has been amazing!

just listened this morning. loved it, super interesting hearing about how buzzfeed came to be. interesting how unexpected challenges (such as being delisted in Google) can lead to huge changes (investment/success in social))

This was a great episode -- so many cool stories about early BuzzFeed (and the breakdown of traffic percentages!)

I listed a couple days ago as well and enjoyed it. The most interesting thing to me was the breakdown on consumption of Buzzfeed across all platforms. Crazy how big Snapchats Discover is for them already. Here was the breakdown: https://twitter.com/bracco/statu...

@bracco yes, after the Google penalty, they understood they have to distribute content in a more efficient way. Today, they understand better than anyone else how their audience consume and share content. (big fan here!)

From the episode description ————————————————————————— BuzzFeed is one of the most important and successful new media companies, tying together deeply reported impact journalism with content optimized for the digital age. Peter Kafka talks with founder and CEO Jonah Peretti, and later on, The Verge’s Lauren Goode discusses the Apple event and Jason Del Rey dishes about digital payments.
