Nice and simple! I needed this kind of thing for a long time

I know this got a fair bit of undeserved criticism on HN but I love this product (if we can call it that). I just posted some of my code all over social media this morning and without this I might not have been as tempted to do it.
Thomas Paul Mann
@khurammalik It's great to hear that you enjoy the "product" ;-) Super happy that it engages you to share more code.
Danny Halarewich
This is awesome! Wish it existed when I was building LemonStand, as we shared lots of code snippets on social and elsewhere. I love how simple and curated it is with the color schemes.

@nichlaswa Ah-ha! I discovered party mode πŸŽ‰ Also, I love what you're doing with Raycast, keep it up!
Thomas Paul Mann
@nichlaswa @jonathanlaniado Thanks a lot! Haha I think you're the first one who found the party mode. Definitely need to add support to export a GIF :D
Sandoche
Nice one, I'll add it to Undesign
Thomas Paul Mann
@sandochee Ah cool, thanks for adding it to Undesign. Looks like a very neat collection!

Hey Product Hunt πŸ‘‹ I'm Nichlas from the Raycast team. We've been working on Ray.so to help you create beautiful images of your code, shareable with the world! Ray.so started out as a hackday project, which has now developed in to a tool we hope many of you will use. Choose from the syntax theme options; toggle between dark and light mode; choose whether to have a background or not; select the padding that works for you; save and share. We'd love to get your feedback and suggestions for what else we could do to make Ray.so even better for you. Happy to answer any questions! 😁

@nichlaswa Looks awesome! Would love to have a "Copy to clipboard" button as well as a "Download" button (for pasting to Slack, etc.).
Nichlas W. Andersen
@iamramsey Thanks Isaac! Great idea, we will be adding more export options soon, and this would be a nice addition :)
Alex Martin
@nichlaswa Would you consider an aspect ratio option? Sharing 16/9 images on Twitter lets us avoid the infamous crop πŸ™‚
Anjali Chauhan
@nichlaswa hey how can I add copy button kinda thing which on clicked, copies the whole snippet?
Nicole Ogloza
@nichlaswa @iamramsey yea, heavy integrations to existing platforms like twitch and discord would also be helpful in sharing quicker. nice job :D
Giovanni Luperti
Congrats! Looking amazing!
Antonis Tsagaris
Wow, this is so cool! I need a code prettifier for a book I'm working on and this fits the bill perfectly!!
Thomas Paul Mann
Hey PH folks, thanks @mwseibel for the hunt and it's great to be back. You can grab a script command to create images of the code you have in your clipboard from here: https://git.io/JtMZX
Thomas Paul Mann
@daryllman Thanks a lot! We wanted to make it look stunning to enjoy using it.
Thomas Paul Mann
@samish not right now. Itβ€˜s just a URL that opens the tool preconfigured. Later we might introduce some API to download images. No plans yet.
Deekshith Allamaneni
This is super cool! Thanks! I use another web based tool for this but more alternatives the better!
Thomas Paul Mann
@adeekshith great to hear you like it.
Martin Lexow
Looks nice. Would love to see an offline version / native app for macOS.
Thomas Paul Mann
@martinlexow Not sure about offline but we want to provide an API at some point and integrate it into Raycast.
Jeff Bargmann
Missed opportunity for inflammatory PR: "Hey Devs. Stop being so UGLY" Looks beautiful. Nice work :)
Thomas Paul Mann
@jeff_bargmann haha next time and thanks!
Yevhenii Peteliev πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦
Wow! Looks very useful. Great job! I can't wait when I try it πŸ–€ Congratulations!
Aliyar
Nice design! I couldn't find a share button. It would be nice if it could be shared easily.
Thomas Paul Mann
@aliyarf Yeah gonna add that. Where do you want to share it? Twitter?
Amos Gyamfi
Very useful and clean. I will use it everyday. Please add PDF export.
Max Snitser
Simple, minimalistic and beautiful tool!
Marcos PiΓ©rola
Awesome work. The color syntax looks beautiful. Is there any way I can find those same color themes for Visual Studio Code?
Remon Oldenbeuving
@mark_piero Unfortunately not, these themes were hand-made by @regn!
Isn't this just a clone of Carbon?
Thomas Paul Mann
@casperstr We wanted to make it easy to get a good looking image of your code and settled on fewer options with curated colors.
Stephan Meijer
@casperstr @thomaspaulmann Sounds great! Something I've been missing on carbon, is image size presets. When sharing code pics on twitter, it's hoping for the best that the cropped result looks nice. Size presets could improve that experience.
Thomas Paul Mann
@casperstr @smeijer Oh that is a brilliant suggestion! Gonna consider it when we add the share on Twitter feature.
Nicole Ogloza
@casperstr I like carbon and have used it a bit, but ray.so is cleaner to me!!! What do you like about Carbon, instead of this?!!?
Douglas Correa
Where is elixir syntax? :P
Thomas Paul Mann
@douglas_correa It's too exotic :-P Just kidding. It looks like it's missing. We'll add more languages.
