Awesome idea! Gamification of city tours could increase tourism and make people more interested to discover new things as it promotes itself as a cool challenge to them.
Good job @alexgovoreanu and the team! Good luck with your your launch, and I hope you get at least #1 of the month! 😅️
@ictoba thank you, Cristian! Appreciate your support! Story time about discovering. In the early days of Questo, I once had a chat with a player that told me he played a game and solved a puzzle at a place across his school. He walked by that place for 20+ years, but never knew its story, and now that he learned about it, he looks at it differently. My point is, there is so much left to discover in the world, both in your city, and outside of it. Just walk, and explore.
🏹 Hi, Hunters,
I’m very happy to be back on Product Hunt.
I’ve been looking forward to this moment for years.
My dream has always been to make walking and exploring exponentially more fun.
To encourage people to be active while learning about their surroundings and places they visit or walk by. For them to interact with their environment and discover so much more than they notice at a first glance 🤩
And for the last couple of years, I’ve done exactly that with my team at Questo. We’ve had 💯s of city exploration games built by creators around the world.
In 2019, we were the 🥉rd Product of the Day here on Product Hunt.
Since then, we’ve spent a lot of ⌚ further testing the concept (mobile app), identifying the core audiences, and validating the creator economy-based business model (generating a lot of 💰for the game creators).
🚶 More than 300k people have walked 2.000.000 km so far. They also:
🧩Solved witty puzzles
🔎Discovered cool places
📙Learned mind boggling facts
🕵️Role-played fantastic characters
🏆And competed with friends and family
🤗And now… now we’re ready to bring everyone else in on this journey with us.
🚀Today, we are publicly launching Questo Creators Room, the platform that allows you to build your own city exploration game.

Because everyone asked [no one, in fact 🤣] how 4000+ Questo players may look, we have a video here.
Just a few weeks ago we had more than 4000+ people playing a Halloween-themed game.
We know how to do this and we want to teach you too. Get in touch and we'll share our knowledge!
@claudiu_petria when I arrived at the event my Uber driver asked me "What is happening here? Why are there so many people? Is it some kind of protest?" and it was really heartwarming to tell him that "no, all these people actually came here to play with Questo".
It's been an amazing experience, can't wait until the next year's Halloween event !
Wait, this is so freaking cool!!!! 🫢🤯 I was obsessed with Pokémon Go 😆 so this is right up my alley! Definitely going to give it a try. Way to go team and congrats on the launch!
Such a fun, creative concept. I love it! Can't wait to try it out.
So glad you launched here, and I got to find out about you, guys. Great work and congratulations for all the awesome things you are and will do from now on @alex_govo@claudiu_petria@vasi_tanase
@alex_govo@claudiu_petria@livia_burbulea Thank you, Livia! As a copywriter at heart myself, I'm happy to see that other copywriters like our concept :) See you on the leaderboard!
Great job on the launch of your new product! It looks like a really fun and innovative way to explore cities and learn new facts. I'm sure it will be a big hit with everyone who tries it out!
Thank you, @ayesha_awan1 ! We believe the Earth is an amazing playground left unnoticed. With Questo, we aim to change this by allowing anyone to build their games in the real world, and help others explore the world in a fun way.
Looks very interesting, maybe also describe it treasure hunt app?
Question. Is it possible to upload or embedd audio and video? If not, please add it to the roadmap. (Could then be a good gamified city audio guide app.)
@torsten_p hey, Torsten. Yes, you can add audio and video on our games. Actually, we just started doing this and the results are amazing. Here is one of our latest game with audio included that we built inside the Vatican Museums: https://questoapp.com/city-games...
What a great way to explore the world! Congrats to the makers of this awesome platform for offering traveling enthusiasts a way to share their view of a city with others and make money doing it!
@ionut_anisia big thanks for your kind words. Questo is a platform where creators of all types can build their own games in the real world. We have screenwriters, game designers, escape room owners, published authors, teachers, and more...all working on their own unique games that help you explore the world through their eyes.
What a great way to get people to (re)experience a city, in a way that brings both the digital and physical worlds together, love it and can't wait to play/make my first Questo!
For all the writers out there, here’s how joining the platform and creating a game with us looks like in context:
The average yearly earnings of a novelist: $22,500
The average time needed to create a novel: 600 hours
And now:
You can earn upwards of $30,000 per year from a Questo game.
It takes you only 30 hours to build a Questo game.
20x less time spent. Roughly the same potential of earnings.
Just saying.
This is a great way to put your creativity to work if you're a copywriter or any type of writer really. And make money out of it in the process. Can't wait to publiah my 1st Questo game🚀
wow, this is very nice! congrats! Just suggested a fun activity to my family - to attempt to create a game in our city - and they loved it. Let's see what we manage to do but no matter the success of our future game, spending time together on a project like this is clearly beneficial and a great family-building activity. Aaaaaand when (it's only a matter of time :P) our game will be successful this would clearly fund our family travel budget.
I’ve played a lot during covid in my hometown. I didn’t know there is so much history behind all these places: castle, catacombs and historical streets. Damn amazing!
@sorinhaidau, speaking of family fun, let me share a story. We once had a family with 2 kids playing a game. They split in 2 teams: father with the boy, mom with the daughter. In the middle of the game, the father contacted us via chat, and asked us to give him the answers in advance for the remaining puzzles. Of course, we didn't, but it was fun to see how competitive families can become:)
When a was a kid, I wanted to be Sydney Fox, the relic hunter that always solved mysteries and has an exciting life. Now I don't have to go to the jungle or unexplored caves to have that feeling, I can open the app and play a game. ✨ And guess what, I will create my own games to make others share the feeling. How cool is that? 💜
Nice idea! I like quest games as a genre and platform for creating it and sell it looks really interesting. Good job, congrats on the launch!
Btw, maybe you have some digits, what is average time needed to create such a quest?
@vasili_chyrvon Hey, Vasili! Happy to see you enjoy what we're building, and thanks for the question. From data, we see that it takes a creator on average somewhere in between 17-25 hours to create a game all the way to publish for sale. But this is for the first game. When you build your second game, the duration decreases significantly because you already know the process.
Love the idea behind the project. City exploration games are so fun! Being able to create one, and besides get money for it, is such a great opportunity!
