I've said this before, but Point is by far the most awesome thing I've found in the history of Product Hunt. Ever since I've found it I've been using it every day and I'm a big big fan! Now @shwinnabego & co are launching Point for iOS and make it even easier to share and discuss links with your friends! Wohooo!
@bramk agreed - Point is by far the most handy tool I've discovered on PH (along with Pablo by Buffer). Also - slickest UI and onboarding experience in recent memory. Solid app all around.
I can without a doubt say Point has been my most used product I have found on Product Hunt. To be able to share and discuss links more privately with a few selected friends is something that is lacking in Facebook or Twitter, and one of the great things Point provides. @shwinnabego and his team did a great job with the iOS app. As a beta tester it was quite obvious how much they cared and took into consideration the feedback I had to give. Excited for what is to come!
Have loved Point from day #1. And I'm still in love with it. It has made sharing links with my team easier than ever. Thanks for building such an amazing product @shwinnabego 🙏
I've been using this for the past couple weeks and it's completely changed how I share links with friends. It's definitely the fastest, easiest, most convenient way to start a conversation with one or more people on the piece of content to find online. @shwinnabego and team really put a lot of thought into the app, which comes through in the onboarding, commenting, and sharing workflow. Definitely worth the download if you haven't already!
Looked forward to the mobile app since the chrome extension released last year. Congrats on shipping and can't wait to get friends to start using the service!
Wish the app onboarding was as slick as the extension, and would love to see Twitter login rather than/in addition to Facebook.
Been playing with the beta for a while now. @shwinnabego is one of the more thoughtful, young product guys I've come across, and it definitely shows in what the team and he have put out so far.
Hey PH! Bringing point to the iPhone has presented some interesting challenges we’d love your feedback on. For one, getting people to use Point from the apps they use (Safari, Twitter, NYT) has presented an education challenge.
Secondly, figuring out how to adapt the conversation/webpage split from point desktop to smaller screens has been an interesting design challenge.
We’ve also released some great updates to the desktop extension since our last time on Product Hunt: the ability to search through points, email integration so you can point @emails who aren’t on Point, and some other impactful improvements.
Excited to hear from you!
@wwr228 thanks will! If they don't hop on immediately, you can still point articles to their emails (with any comments / parts you quote) - see more here: http://www.getpoint.co/blog/poin...
Just discovered this. This to me is the evolution of Google Reader, which is what so many of my friends and I used to share and comment on articles. WAY TO GO, GUYS!!
I also really like this as a happy medium between Evernote ("the attic full of junk from your entire life") and Pocket ("the closet by the front door full of more recent junk"). What I mean is I could see using this to send myself annotated articles...it provides such a clean UI I see it solving a bigger purpose. Great work!
Point is so remarkable in its simplicity. It fundamentally fixes the act of sharing content. I think that if we set out to build the Web from scratch today, Point would be baked right into browsers along with cards and the other mechanisms we've invented to complete the experience.
The mobile app just cements all of this, and distills a clumsy process on phones into something clear and delightful. I don't think it's the intent of the product, but it's turned out to be a great tool for research on teams as well. :-)
Thanks @shwinnabego and the rest of the team!
Have been using the beta of Point iOS for a couple months, and it's super lightweight, straightforward, and easy to use (not to mention pretty). Big fan of this current release and I'm excited to be able to recommend it to friends and get some more conversations going. Congrats to @shwinnabego@abhoopathy and team on launch day!
@bencbernstein thanks ben! We're trying to cut out some of the noise in sharing on networks like fb & twitter making it for sharing & discussing like you do in email or chat.
I don't think there's much I can add that hasn't been said already, but to echo others... Congrats to Ashwinn & team for building an awesome piece of utility and a great mobile experience to support it. I've been fortunate enough to meet Ashwinn in person and to watch Point grow of late. I'm hugely impressed by the product itself, but also by the dedication and the rate at which this small team is rolling out feature after useful feature. Keep it up Ashwinn!
Super similar to Lynx (https://www.producthunt.com/tech...) which we also built for sharing/saving/chatting about links. Glad to see Point come out with an app– we've definitely found that single users like having the same solution across desktop/mobile (share from desktop + receive on mobile). Point looks quite different than Lynx - ours is more visual/colorful and Point is more utility-y. Hopefully each will appeal to a different type of user. I love the onboarding you guys did; super smooth and useful. Anyway, congrats @shwinnabego and team! If you are ever interested in comparing notes, let me know. [thumbs up emoji cause I can't figure out how to do emoji on PH]
Point has become a daily social aspect within our company. Sharing ideas and inspirations so easily has helped us expand our vision, and our conversation. Collaborating is easy and quick, with an interface that never gets you lost. @shwinnabego responds (scary) fast to feedback, and inquiries! Customer service is second to none. Point is an amazing product, amazingly made.
