It is so named because it can only receive messages, just like the pagers of many years ago.

In the process of software development and operation and maintenance, as developers we often need to receive notifications such as successful CI builds, automated test completion and system operation exceptions. So I build the Pager. Pager lets you receive notifications directly using the native iOS App. It's free to use without restriction and we receive revenue from in-app advertising for server maintenance. It's still early, and I'd love your early feedback on the product so I can incorporate into my roadmap as I continue building!
