I love this idea! You never know what it's going to look like to migrate to tools, and as one who often loves to try new tools, I experience this a lot 😂 What's the process for adding a switching guide? Ie, if i create one about switching from Trello to Jira or something like that? I saw there's a contact form, but what happens after that?
@britt_joiner Just let us know via the contact form if you'd like to contribute an idea for a switching guide (we'll add it to our list) or if you'd like to contribute a switching guide yourself (under your own name), and we'll come back to you with the process!
Amazing job is done! Congratulations on the marvelous launch :) I am very curious to know, how many people are doing and writing about switching. This seems to be a very intensive job!
@naveed_rehman Thank you! It's just @haikalkushahrin doing all of the writing, and I've been editing and giving feedback. He's done such an amazing job 🔥
Love the creativity and depth of this content. Super relevant given the sheer amount of options for note-taking tools. Bookmarking to share with clients and friends!
The grind to find the 'perfect' productivity tool is underrepresented.
This should make the process simpler!
Upvoted so that I can refer back to this the next time I switch to a new tool!
Hey all! 👋
I’m Haikal, a medical student and editorial manager at Ness Labs. Two years ago, I discovered Roam, and today couldn’t imagine managing my studies and my work without it.
Since then, there’s been a renaissance of Tools for Thought – apps to improve your productivity, your creativity and your thinking – but it’s become hard to decide which tool to use, and how to safely transfer your notes if you decide to switch between two tools.
That’s why I created Switchboard, the most comprehensive collection of tutorials for you to safely make the switch from a Tool for Thought to another! 🥳
Inside each Switchboard tutorial, you’ll find:
• Why you may want to switch to the new tool
• The reasons why you may be better off sticking to your current tool (shiny toy syndrome!)
• If you do decide to make the switch, how to safely export your notes from one tool to another
• Tips to quickly get used to your new Tool for Thought
Thanks to @anthilemoon for the support over the past few months while I was working on this project. We’ll keep on adding more tutorials, so let me know if there’s one you want us to create!
Whoaaa this is the service I never knew I needed! I've been meaning to switch from Roam to Notion but am overwhelmed by the idea of the transfer. Enter--Switchboard! :)
