Hi ProductHunt community! My name is Sachin and I’m excited to be launching my first (super simple!) “product”: Military Memoirs. It’s a curated email list with weekly unedited video stories directly from US Military veterans who have served in combat.
I’ve always been inspired by the stories of those who served. One of my favorite books is “About Face” by David H. Hackworth. There are so many great lessons in the book such as courage under fire, perseverance and grit which have incredible meaning. It’s also deeply important that we preserve the experience of those who served.
Being able able to code (a bit!) let me to built this simple—and certainly clunky—site this weekend with the following goal: share the stories of our military veterans.
Why build this?
🇺🇸 Honoring the service of our military veterans: I wanted to contribute in a small way this weekend.
ℹ️ Applicable Lessons: Even though the battlefield may be different than our daily lives, there are lessons we can apply to help us.
📹 Unfiltered stories: a simple email list with stories (mainly in video format). No extra stuff. The raw truth, 1st person.
How it works?
If you sign up for the email list, each week a set of veteran stories would be shared. Ideally, vets would share their basic details, I’ll reach out and ask them to make some sort of video/tell more and then send and email out. Listen and hear the true experiences. Hopefully, there’s something to learn.
Since this is brand new, please feel free to share, especially with military vets who have stories to tell. Hopefully it also provides some kind of therapy for the trauma of combat. Most importantly, I believe their experiences deserve to be memorialized and shared.
Feel free to give me feedback in the comments. If you’re interested in helping out, reach out to me (via twitter). Thanks!
