Hi PH! 👋 I am excited to share leaf with this community not only for feedback, but also because the product has brought my family so much joy and I hope it will do the same for you. What is leaf? Leaf is the easiest way to record and share your family’s memories. The app (available on both the App and Google Play Store) was intentionally designed to focus on audio because we believe audio is the most authentic and unobtrusive way to record a moment or story – it’s hard to be your true self when a phone or camera is pointed at you! All audio recordings are encrypted and safely stored with cloud-based storage; you control who has access to them through the sharing settings in the app. Most Common Use Cases 🧒 Record fun moments with kids talking about their day at school, singing songs, and bedtime routines 👩‍🦳 Capture stories and family history from parents and/or grandparents and ensure they are passed along to future generations 💌 Save precious voicemails, voice memos, or voice messages from WhatsApp Key Features 🎙️ Instant recording: long press the leaf app icon to capture a moment quickly and authentically ⚡ “Inspire Me”: a blank slate can be intimidating – our AI question prompt generator helps you get a conversation started 📲 Compatibility: leaf is compatible with both audio and video files. @theological Thank you! We are working to make leaf compatible with other frequently used apps so that it can be a collection of all of your most important audio memories. This is a great idea and we will definitely see what is possible!

@theological Hi Theo, quick update that the latest version (published in the app store yesterday) allows you to send voice notes from Telegram and other communication apps into leaf. Let me know what you think!

I currently use Google Photos for this. I record pictures and videos and everything is uploaded to the cloud. How is this better?

@kingromstar Thanks for the question Rami! leaf is all about audio and capturing stories (not videos/photos). There is something extremely powerful about the voice because it changes so quickly (especially with kids). Hearing a loved one’s voice even a few days after a recording is gratifying, but listening to it years down the road and being able to share with future generations is truly special.

Thanks for your product. Great mission! I find really valuable its focus on the most close connections. It's reminded me about another audio-based loved product called Cappuccino: https://www.producthunt.com/prod... However, your focus is mostly on family and preserving its memory. Congratulations Team Leaf on your successful launch on Producthunt! Love how your app allows people to privately capture and share moments using audio, it's a fantastic idea for those who might shy away from cameras. On that note, have you considered adding a feature that can transcribe the audio recordings? It could be useful to revert back without listening to the entire audio. Once again, kudos on the launch!

All recordings are automatically transcribed (we transcribe across 30+ languages) so you can definitely read instead of listen to the entire conversation if that's your preference. We are also working on transcript summaries so you can quickly gather the key takeaways -- we've found this to be useful for long recordings.
