I run the Hive Index (https://thehiveindex.com/), a directory of over 1200 communities. In the process I've come across many community platforms and mapped out the features of community. What the Kissflow team has built with their community platform is very impressive, and it appears to provide both an amazing space for community members, as well as useful tools for community builders. I'm very excited to see this platform grow.

Why use this over Discord or Slack? What specifically are you doing to increase engagement? These forum type platforms never perform as well as Discord, Slack, or FB Groups

@yarobagriy In order to answer your question, I would like to explain a bit. TL;DR Discord or slack can be used by open communities where chat and calls brings maximum engagement. Business networks and SaaS customer communities use chat and calls very minimally and other engagement options more. We built Kissflow community platform to help those communities β€” Longer version There could be different categories of communities, by enlarge I would classify them as 1. Business networks 2. B2B Customer communities 3. Alumni networks 4. Consumer products community 5. Interest groups 6. Creator community 7. Celebrity community 8 Fun/Gamer/Friend clubs (Similar to 5 but more on entertainment) Engagement happens differently in all the above communities and needs are different. Conversation also flows differently. I can break conversations as conversations that are committed, instant but not commited, that are short living, that has longer shelf life. Commited is a video/audio call, instant but not commited is a chat, short livings are social media posts, longer shelf life are discussions, brainstorming, blog, long form article. First two community categories (business networks and business customer communities) rely majorly on third type of conversation and they also create engagements with events which are both physical and virtual. I would say alumni and consumer product category also relies on events. Other categories rely more on committed and instant conversations for driving engagement. When I say driving engagement it means to help their members. As you know different platforms serve different purposes. Discord has handled committed and instant conversation so very well because discord also takes of different aspects of community principles such as less spamming (slowed messages feature), acceptance of rules, some workflow to acknowledge member as legitimate, if we see these are needed in open community types from 4-8. Thats the when we try to create a server on discord the categories they show are pretty much these. So when we use discord for first 3 it would not make sense. Slack cannot be compared to discord, its a messaging platform which has addressed instant communication and committed conversation, it cannot be considered as community platform as it doesn't offer benefits for open communities (4-8) or closed communities (1-3). So if we use slack or discord for first 3 specially first 2, it needs a lot of workaround as they are not built for it. So our offering is for first two types of communities, handling instant, short-living social conversations and long shelf-life discussions, in addition to showcasing members which is required in business networks, organizing events etc. We don't have features that support committed conversation which is a video or audio room, however that could be supported by integration with virtual meeting platforms. I would love to discuss more on this to learn and understand more.

Hello Community! We are super excited to launch Kissflow Community Platform on product hunt today! I feel this is the perfect place to launch a community platform as product hunt is a big community that is run by the community members. By building communities and being a part of various communities we observed that conversations make up the heart of a community and members are the lifeline. Helping members of a community to have relevant, meaningful interactions can trigger engagement and engagement ensures the success of the community. Our community platform has been built with this philosophy in mind. We also realized that businesses are taking a human-centric approach by becoming community-led. Customer communities are helping businesses to grow. Conversations can be classified into instant, committed, short-living and long-living. Different types of conversations need to be presented in different formats. Our platform provides features to preserve their relevance as well. Events are great for community collaborations, hence a place to promote, market, and host them is needed inside a community platform. Currently, communities are managed on chat and messenger platforms which is not efficient, and they don't provide everything that is required to build an engaging community. We have built the platform to solve this problem & to help community managers increase engagement. Kissflow Community Platform comes with: 1. Spaces with global space chat, forums, feeds, and private chats 2. Event management, RSVP, and integrations to virtual meeting platforms 3. Members Directory and detailed member profiles 4. Back Office for community managers to track and manage tasks 5. Community specialist as a service We call our platform a fully-managed community platform, as we offer community management, back office for community operations, and community specialists to help in strategizing community engagement. It is a holistic offering and has everything needed to make a community successful. I would love to have your thoughts and will be here to answer questions. We have also announced $1M worth of free credits for SaaS communities as a part of the launch. https://kissflow.com/community/
