In my opinion the number one obstacle is to find valid supporters, in my case we need to find followers and people willing to try our social application but we really struggle
Usually, the founder/s, i.e. .... YOU!
The momentum in your business comes from you and your cofounders, or just you if you're flying solo.
It comes from the energy you put into your business and intelligence you use to direct that energy.
How are you the obstacle exactly?
You are finite, there's only so many hours you can put in each day. In the early stages of a venture, you will be the limiting factor.
This is why it's important to understand how you are going to scale beyond the amount of time and resources you personally can afford to keep tipping into your venture.
If you're running out of hours each day or money, it's time to look at brining in more people or money. It sounds simple, but often this is the obstacle that most founders find it hard to overcome.
For instance many founders will find it difficult to recruit others, they must overcome themselves, their own reticence, and build a team, or their business will remain confined to the amount of time they can spend on their business.
Some may find raising finance difficult, again the founder is still the main obstacle. It is possible of course, to raise finance. You are capable of learning, raising finance is just another skill, and can be learned.
I know this because a. I am a founder myself and have struggled with all the above, and b. I've run three accelerator programs, and have helped dozens of other founders who have, more or less, struggled the same way.
PLEASE! Don't fall for the trap of thinking that factors outside your control are limiting you or are stopping you from growing.
This is a trap that's easy to fall into and takes focus away from what you can control that will help you scale. It can leave you feeling helpless, as if you have no agency or power to change your circumstances.
I've found that if you focus on improving your skills, or inviting others to help where you lack skill, it is amazing how quickly you can move past the external obstacles.
In fact, now, I see external obstacles as relatively easy compared to trying to convince a despondent founder, that the real obstacles they are facing is how they are approaching growth. It takes a great deal of humility to admit that you're crap at something, especially if that something is growing a business you've started. But, putting the emphasis on you being responsible for how you tackle overcoming obstacles is life changing stuff.
Happy to chat to anyone here that is struggling, I've been there, check my profile, there's a link to my linkedin profile (please include a note if you want to connect, say you responded to a comment on ProductHunt).
Take care everyone :)
