Facebook (IG) is bringing social commerce to the next level with the release of this product. They are pulling the ropes and dictating market trends for brands with a strong online presence and digital native brands alike. In essence they are shortening the path-to-purchase and altering classic marketing funnels, moving from vertical models including multiple content touch-points to a horizontal model, a single place where you can discover -> engage -> purchase. Interesting will be to see how this will impact the the influencer marketing in particular. How will content creators will get part of the action? They can drive purchases that are clearly measurable, so imagine 20 nano influencers working in a brand partnership with Adidas - they will be able to see who drives the highest ROI and who is best at selling their brand. Leading another interesting question… Will brands expand their ecom-refferal programs via Instagram as well? And will anyone be able to promote IG brand products? In the meantime, platforms like Shoperr.com have been doing this for a while and have allowed influencers and any content creator to link recommend products to their social media accounts, blogs and digital assets to get paid on a commission basis for each sale. FYI - I work @Shoperr, and it would be great to develop the discussion and talk about the pros and cons for content creators and brands adopt features like IG checkout!

Great, I've always thought parting with my money was too difficult. Instagram to the rescue! Seriously, this is so seamless it could be illegal. Like how some countries have banned the sale of the Amazon Tap reorder devices.

Good, we welcome them catching up. We have been offering 1-click checkout from ads for over a year now. We let retailer use their existing payment processor; we work on any channel (ads, email, sms), orders are posted back to retailer's backoffice/e-com system. We knew this was coming so not so shocked by it. It will be interesting to see when they start charging the brands a % of all transactions. Having said that however, what a beautiful loop it will be for them to track ROAS from campaign to purchase to this extent. Keep you spending even more as a business and consumer as they track how many items you have in the basket what you liked what you didn't also based on your intent based on your likes etc, truly the platform of choice for any non techie who can't be bothered with Shopify, wordpress and various other platforms that take fucking ages to set up for a basic product. Take picture, tag, set price, description, sizes and list. Once listed promote directly. I see a CRM integration next also. Actually I see a lot coming from them from this one thing. A lot. Amazon has no idea a new apex predator has arrived. Finally.

I Think this is NOTHING more than a Brilliant idea, I'm sure instead of just looking about people's life and stuff that is happening that probably is not Important , Maybe just Maybe we could change it up a little and add a little Excite to Instagram and put some glamorous items on peoples faces Not Only is this a good idea they are selling some pretty items on Instagram... I think people are free to post what they want when they want , and they may or may not regret it we will never
