Impossible Burger — A burger made from plants for people who love meat.

Impossible Burger is a delicious burger made entirely from plants for people who love meat. Every time you choose a quarter-pound Impossible Burger instead of a burger made from a cow, you can make a huge difference without compromising.

tried it for the first time a few years ago. it's ok, but didn't taste of meat

I was so ready to hate this burger but after trying it I think it's the future. If i had to put math to it I'd say it is like 85% comparable to meat. Certainly not an exact replica but pretty good facsimile. I'm not vegan but I fully expect 10-20 years from now for these type of meats to be the standard if price can get down and for animal meat to be a special treat. "Why did you kill that poor defenseless cow?" "Oh, well i was hungry" just feels like an antiquated way of thinking.

@mrmikesmith It's already pretty close to that. Beyond Burgers at home, Impossible Burgers when out. It's not hard skipping the animal meat already.

I tried the Impossible Burger a year ago at Momofuku in New York and while the whole burger itself wasn't impressing me, I have to admit that the "meat" really tasted like meat. It might not be the "premium ground beef" at that time but I read an article about their new version which should be pretty terrific.

Looking forward to try that one. I hope this will be the future, so we can finally end the cruelty we're doing to animals and the planet.

Pros:

Tastes like real meat

Cons:

Price & Availability - Which will get better over time I guess

Nice idea, but personally I'm holding out for meat-grown-in-vats.

Never have to ever worry about things like mad cow with meat alternatives; the only downside I can think of vs lab grown meat is water usage, though it should be theoretically less than livestock. Question: Everyone says it goes down easy... but does it give anyone stomach issues?

I went hunting for this burger when I read about it somewhere or other. It's hard to find, as many of the listed locations on their site no longer stock it. Delicious product.

Pros:

Super delicious

Cons:

Expensive -- it costs an extra $6/patty vs regular meat at a local brewery. Doesn't hold heat super long.

Cannot wait to try this! Just checked locations and there are 2 right by my house. 💥 🍔

This is the best burger.

@john_cockerill With products like Impossible Burger and Beyond Burger you don’t need to even travel down the path of killing animals.
John
@tjwise_ Which is excellent, if your reason for veganism is the morality of killing animals. I don't have an issue with animals dying for food (as long as it is not unnecessarily cruel), because I view that as a natural fact of life - how many animals have opted for herbivorism because of empathy? I am looking forward to lab grown meats because then the texture, flavor, and nutrients will be the same and the negative impact on the environment from massive farms will be less of an issue.

Have you seen actual footage of a slaughter house? If not and you eat meat take the time to watch. You should know what happens to the the living beings that become your meal and that become you. Most people never eat meat again once they watch the footage. The abuse is severe and heartbreaking which goes against our moral fiber on how to treat anything living. Here is a video of people watching the footage (not graphic). Even that is shocking. https://m.facebook.com/livekindl...
John
@tjwise_ Then the issue is with the way that the slaughterhouse treats/abuses the animals. Unfortunately you have to end a life to get meat. There's awful ways to do that and then there are quicker less painful ways to do that. I'll continue to support places that treat the animals ethically and eat meat, as humans evolved to.

I had a version of the Impossible Burger (their meatball sub) in Boston. Absolutely loved it.

Delicious, when its get more available and more affordable I'll replace half of my burger intake with this.

Thanks for hunting @jgage718 I love seeing more alternative products hunted by the community like this. I tried the Impossible Burger in NYC in Jan and was blown away. Hands down the most meat-like plant food I've ever had. Right down to the medium rare look of the fake blood! It doesn't have the exact fatty umami richness of real burgers but it comes close. If we have any hope of making our planet live longer reducing our consumption of animals particularly cows is really important and I think for people who feel they can't survive without a good burger - this might convince them 🐮

I've tried all of the veggie burgers and "fake meat" burgers out there and the Impossible Burger is by far the best in terms of taste, texture, nutrition and overall similarity to a conventional burger. The price is pretty premium right now but I expect that to be solved in time.

I love this idea, and the positive effects that come with it, though I'd like to see it offered in retail/grocery locations like Beyond Meat (http://beyondmeat.com). Seems like a high barrier to entry to try this if I have to go out to eat, rather than purchasing it in store and making something myself.

Finally had the opportunity to try this! I got it topped with bacon though... Does that ruin the experience 😅 Really great flavor, and the texture was almost identical to real meat. If I could eat this every time I go out to eat, I would.

Looking forward to trying this out when I move to Los Angeles 🙌🏻

Tried the burger over a year ago for the first time at Impossible HQ, have been very impressed by their execution, marketing, and product.

Hope they manage to get the price point down dramatically so they can actually undercut the cost of ground beef in the US, without compromising the product. That’s the real challenge!

Pros:

Seriously tastes and cooks like real meat!

Cons:

Slight after taste (maybe from coconut oil), and doesn’t taste like *great* ground beef, just okay ground beef. Very expensive right now!

This is the future. Thank you Impossible Foods for being a key driver in this change. Entrepreneurs: It's the best time to get started with something in alternative meats RIGHT NOW. This market will grow 100000x in the next years. I try to get one of these once a week. Because it's delicious and to support them.

Not that I would ever eat meat again, but the Impossible Burger is a welcomed addition to my diet.

Pros:

Absolutely delicious

Cons:

A bit expensive right now
