Hey all, Thank you for checking out Huddle! Unlike other social apps that rely on servers and third-party connections, Huddle is fully on device. This means that your personal information and posts are never stored on a remote server and are only accessible to you and the people you choose to connect with. You can rest assured that your privacy is protected and your personal information is secure. With Huddle, you can share personal text posts with your friends and family just by pressing a single button. The posts will transfer to each others devices for viewing later so you can instead focus on spending quality in-person time with the people who matter most. The app is designed to be simple and user-friendly, with a clean and intuitive interface that makes it easy to navigate and use. Whether you're looking to make new connections or strengthen existing ones, Huddle is the perfect app for you.

@max_savonin1 Hey! Thanks for questions. Let me take some time to answer them for you. Security question: - The data is stored on device using Apple's CoreData framework, which is a wrapper for SQLite. The database is fully exportable / importable so you can control your data. It is not encrypted as it never leaves your device. Encryption for the database is a good idea though for those who want extra security. I do support face id / passcode locking the app. Your password also never leaves the device and is stored in your Keychain. (this is synced with iCloud though if you have iCloud Keychain enabled). The password is also not stored in plain text. It is encrypted prior to being stored. Connection questions: - That's actually the charm of Huddle. You can't explore new connections unless you meet them in person. This is the cornerstone of Huddle, to facilitate private and in person connections.

Hey William, the idea of an off-server app is quite novel and exciting. Though have you considered if a freemium model could help you with user acquisition? Also, using a video for the listing would really help with understanding the UI of the app, no?
William Vabrinskas
@growthdreamer22 I did, but I really dislike subscription services. There are so many of them now. A video is a great idea!
KJ
@wvabrinskas yes, I too dislike subscriptions. Though may be the first week/month could be free and then you charge? Lower your entry barrier, the easier it would be to succeed.
William Vabrinskas
@growthdreamer22 not a bad idea.
William Vabrinskas
@growthdreamer22 It's now free for the next 2 weeks! Great suggestion

@wvabrinskas Happy to be of help :) My team will be launching a product in 2 days, would love your feedback as well.

With so many social media platforms overwhelmed by "not-too-close" interactions, Huddle seems like a good place to reconnect with my close circles! Congrats on the launch!

Hi William, It's a fantastic idea! If I post something on my public social media accounts, then setting it as only visible to my good friends or family can also make sure my privacy will not be exposed to the other people. Can you share what's the differentiation of Huddle? Thanks.
William Vabrinskas
@amber_zeng with Huddle there is no public feed. The only way you build your feed is by meeting people in person and using a peer to peer network created between your two iPhones to share posts. It’s all offline and only visible and shareable if you want to

Huddle has proven to be a fun and safe way that our teenagers can journal and share their posts with trusted friends (if they choose)! Everything remains encrypted on your device by default. To share with someone, you must be in their physical presence. Posts you share with others cannot be reshared by them, so there are no chances of your posts going viral beyond your control. My teenage daughter and her closest friends have enjoyed sharing posts with each other at school and don't have to worry about them getting into the wrong hands. Our son has really taken to using it for journaling and he only shares a few posts with family and friends when he wants. With privacy at its foundation, this is a well-designed and fun app that you can use however you like. The developer is very responsive and is open to feedback. I highly recommend this app!
William Vabrinskas
@magicmiguel thank you so much Mike! So happy you and your family enjoy using the app!
William Vabrinskas
Hey all! Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. Because of the engagement I have made Huddle FREE OF CHARGE for the next 2 weeks! Go download it now for free! Thank you again!

Congratulations on the launch! Any plans to launch an Android version soon? Thanks.
William Vabrinskas
@semanser I have plans but I need to see how interoperable the peer to peer connections are

Hey William, An offline social journal app is a unique concept! How does Huddle ensure the security and privacy of the data transferred between devices? Congrats on the launch!
William Vabrinskas
@kyrylosilin it does! It uses a private network between the two devices. It’s not going through a Server or anything.

Hey @wvabrinskas Huddle: Connect offline with loved ones? How does a journaling app bring people together face-to-face? Is it about sharing thoughts to spark conversations or something else?
William Vabrinskas
@jpgohil93 basically as you create posts for yourself you can mark them as shareable. Then instead of posting to a traditional social media to update your family, you can share them directly when you see them in person.

Nice social journal app... congrats!

This looks perfect for creating private networks with friends and family. I will see in future how it enhances personal connections.

How secure is the data stored in Huddle? Interested in understanding how it maintains privacy for users.
William Vabrinskas
@morgan_nabors there is no servers and no imternet connection is required. the database itself is a CoreData database which is basically a SQLite database. It’s exportable and importable by the user. There is no encryption currently but it’s stored in the app container unavailable to any other process without explicit user consent. The app can also be locked by FaceID or passcode. User password is stored encrypted on the keychain.
