A year ago, we had the idea to create a community around side projects because there wasn't one on campus at Cornell. We created the BKYD Playbook to feature content, inspiration, and helpful resources for anyone to start a side-project anywhere.
A year ago, we had the idea to create a community around side projects because there wasn't one on campus at Cornell.
We saw the value and self-fulfillment we got from starting our own thing and building something from scratch to see it grow. We hope we have inspired our community to not only dream big, but to take tangible actions towards that dream.
When we started BKYD (pronounced Backyard), we had the vision to create a "playbook for everyone" so anyone, anywhere can find the resources and inspiration needed to kickstart their side projects.
We've been incubated this project for the past year, and we're so happy to share our first release of the BKYD Playbook featuring insight, resources, and content that you may find useful for building out an idea. In conjunction to that, we're launching the Project Directory featuring student-led projects and start-ups that inspire us every day.
We've both found incredible joy out of building our own projects. As a by-product of BKYD, Maya founded Let's Hear It, a female empowerment platform and publication and Tina started her newsletter featuring insight and content on future, tech innovation, and a better self.
Let us know your feedback and we encourage you to share it with your friends with an idea they've been rambling about!
