What were your goals for Q1 and how successful were you? (Wrap up)

We had 90 days to accomplish what we set for ourselves.

Many people set yearly goals – New Year's resolutions – but I believe quarterly goals are more sustainable and achievable.

Can you share your goals and also results?
I am pretty curious how your 1/4 of the year went. πŸ™‚

These were mine for Q1 and to be transparent, I am gonna rank them:

πŸ‘‰ Interview 2 guests for my YouTube channel
❌ I interviewed only one.

πŸ‘‰ Prepare for a 30-day YouTube challenge (write scripts)
βœ… Completed 30 scripts.

πŸ‘‰ Reach out to creators for newsletter recommendations

βœ… I did it in January and was recommended by many creators.

πŸ‘‰ Claim at least 2 paid collaborations (no matter whether my project, e.g. sponsors or someone else's project)

βœ… I claimed more.

πŸ‘‰ Publish my first coded project publicly

❌ It is not finished and probably will not publish it publicly (changed my direction).

πŸ‘‰ Read every day

❌ It was successful until the end of January. :D

πŸ‘‰ Stick to my exercising & learning habits (+ improve them)

βœ… Cannot say that improved them but still stick to them.

πŸ‘‰ Grow each platform by 20%
❌ Achieved only 50% of them.

Current count:

Bluesky: 4276 β†’ 5156 βœ…

LinkedIn: 3581 β†’ 3966 ❌

Newsletter: 289 β†’ 964 βœ…

Product Hunt: 5413 β†’ 6561 βœ…

X: 1685 β†’ 1895 ❌

YouTube: 539 β†’ 612 ❌

"Achievements" I didn't expect:

– Invited to spaces to talk about art, marketing and content creation

– Got first paid newsletter subscriber

– Was travelling to another country

– Learned new things in Blender

Love this. It’s why I created my app (called mylestones) for tracking them. 😁 Read 5/7 books Had 5/6 date nights Paid off 4k/1500 student loan debt Next quarter, I’m adding get first 100 users of mylestones!
Nika

@brian_arndt1 what's the name of the tracking app? :)

Great idea, @busmark_w_nika ! πŸš€

I totally agree β€” quarterly goals feel much more realistic and achievable than yearly ones. Here's how my Q1 went:

🎯 My main goal: validate demand for my product, build an MVP, and onboard first paying users.

βœ… Conducted 10 in-depth user interviews to understand pain points and needs clearly.

βœ… Launched an initial MVP (quite raw, but usable!).

βœ… Got my first 3 paying customers through manual outreach β€” huge milestone for me!

βœ… Tested 3 traffic channels (Product Hunt, Reddit, and LinkedIn) and defined one clear winner to scale.

βœ… Posted consistently on LinkedIn (#buildinginpublic), Telegram, and Twitter (at least 5 posts each).
βœ… Visited Singapore and Universal Studio

❌ Didn't manage yet to connect with 7 founders of similar productsβ€”got just 3 so far, but working on it!

Overall feeling: energized and optimistic. First results are in, lessons learned, and Q2 looks exciting!

And congrats on "Got first paid newsletter subscriber" πŸŽ‰

Nika

@ilia_productdesigner You managed quite a lot! Congratulations.

I have more questions:
– what is the product?
– which channel proved to be the best one?

– what do you expect from the collaboration with founders of similar products?

Launching soon!

Oh, a quarterly plan sounds great! I think I’ll try it next quarter as well. Thanks for sharing your journey with me. By the way, the text was all tilted, so I ended up tilting my head too haha.

Feliciana

Hi Nika, thanks for sharing your goals. Here are some of my goals for Q1:

❌ Earned 500 kitty coins in PH
❌ had 100 followers in PH
(but these two goals will be realized soon in April)

βœ… read at least 2 books/month
βœ… kept learning Japanese everyday
βœ… prepared for my first international trip (including obtaining a visa, booking flights, and reserving a hotel).

Nika

Hey Feliciana :) Thanks for sharing too :) What books have you read? :)

Another question: where do you travel?

Feliciana

@busmark_w_nika  I read a series of books by Shinobu Yoshii, including Tokyo 8 Square Meters, Tokyo Bookstore, and An Extraordinary Way of Living. These books increased my interest on Japanese lifestyle and I finally decided to travel to Japan in May. Besides, I also read several novels by W. Somerset Maugham, with The Painted Veil leaving the deepest impression. It really worth reading! :)

Nika

Cool – some of my friends visited Japan and consider it like a really beautiful country (especially since people are punctual there). Let me know how you liked it there then :)

Feliciana

@busmark_w_nika Yes, I have seen so many beautiful pictures and videos about Japan. Looking forward to May :)
