What do you think about giveaways in SaaS?

We have a SaaS plagiarism-checking tool, and it came to my mind to hold a giveaway among subscribers (1000 pages to check) on Linkedin. What do you think the outcome would be? Would you participate in it if you were an educator/student?

Depending on the stage your product is at, and what goal would you like to achieve with such a giveaway. If you want to gain first users, feedback and perhaps reviews - I'd go with that, but I wouldn't expect it that a LinkedIn post will go viral. Anyway, worth testing out. ;-)
