The way brands are promoted has always been undergoing some kind of "evolution".
Celebrity endorsement → Influencer marketing → UGC creator videos
For the last 3 years, brands have been using UGC content because it's supposedly "more authentic", and more "natural."
But since UGC has been influenced by AI, leading to the rise of AI UGC videos, is it still authentic? Doesn't it undermine the original idea? 🤔
I think that all are important (celebrities, influencers, UGC creators) but each of them had some purpose that is a little bit damaged by AI.
I'd like to know your thoughts.
I get why AI-generated UGC is becoming a thing, but honestly, I’m not a fan. The whole point of UGC was authenticity, and once AI steps in, it just feels… off.
People can tell when something looks too polished or unnatural, and that kind of defeats the purpose of UGC in the first place. It’s like brands are trying to automate "relatability," but that’s not how trust works.
Have you seen any AI UGC that actually feels genuinely authentic, or does it all have that “too-perfect-to-be-real” vibe?
@hussein_r I completely agree. This perfectly aligns with my thoughts. AI-generated UGC often comes across as inauthentic and deceptive, which makes it unappealing.
Honestly, even UGC feels to me ungenuine. But I am a marketer, and know the process behind the marketing stuff.
Average person is okay with almost anything.
