They have presented an incredibly ambitious goal, and I think that even if they don't manage to raise the full amount they’ve set, even gathering two-thirds of it would still be a massive financial resource that could lead to truly mind-blowing results. So, this would be an exceptional boost if they manage to raise even 70-80%, not necessarily the full 100%.
@byalexai I'd agree on that, if we wouldn't talking about physical infrastructure, that is actually planned to hit the big goal: make the US a leader of AI in the world. So it seems that if the target is not 100% achieved, the big goal would not be achiever either. But what I do agree with is that other players like China and (my lord) EU, will not hit even 30% of this goal definitely.
@pomazau In my opinion, the main goal is that they want to catch up with the gap they have in this field compared to China. In reality, China has made incredible breakthroughs in both software and hardware in the AI domain, so I believe the U.S. simply wants to catch up with them. That’s why they’ve set an unrealistically high goal—to bridge this gap and even surpass China. It's just that China is currently very far ahead, and we don't even have full information about how far ahead they actually are.
