Product Hunt is only for launching your product!

I've been preparing for our PH launch and researching the dos and donots for the launch... There seems to be a sentiment these days that the only people utilizing the platform are those who are promoting their product only, and less than 1% look up products here. They say that the only boost to the platform is during the launch, and eventually, it just fades away... What do you think is true? How are you utilizing the platform?

I'm mostly here to find great products - it's a treasure trove but also quite a gamble having to sift through products to find those "diamonds in the rough" I make video games, so this isn't the right place to post unfortunately, I post games on Itch.io

I think a lot of makers take an intensified interest in Product Hunt when they’re launching but I rely on the digest and checking in as often as I can to keep an eye on trends and I’m always on the lookout for interesting new products. I’ve also connected with some great people here!
