Instagram is about to start 'selling' blue-tick verification service. Would you pay for it?
After Elon Musk decided to charge Twitter creators $11/month for blue-tick verification, Instagram is following suit. Its an easy way for social networks to make bit more money. Existing creators, who 'earned' their blue ticks are frustrated by this announcement because anyone can just 'buy' it now. Financial experts are also questioning the intent: Meta generates over $120billion cash each year and net profit from Facebook's biggest userbase (India) increased by 130% last year itself. Does it really this extra cash it wants from creators?

From my perspective, both Big Tech and its customers are facing challenging times. However, Elon Musk's experiment has demonstrated that individuals are willing to pay for an improved user experience.

My Opinion is ,Charging for blue tick verification on social media platforms like Meta and Twitter devalues the hard work of creators who have earned it.
It's an unnecessary move by already highly profitable companies, and may limit opportunities for those who cannot afford to pay for verification. Instead, these platforms should focus on investing in new features to enhance user experience and prioritize authenticity in the verification process.
To the best of my understanding, It shouldn't be worrisome because I won't! Once someone's life is not attached to it under compulsion. This step would give a rising move to others that are striving to give their best (especially by decentralisation) because blue-tick verification would in be another means of internet frauds.
disregarded... why would I? I can't... if the blue tick verification are charging social media platform, when I knew it's not a technology platform that offer solution to the need at best possible without a compromising quality
I would've, but maybe in its early days, same on Facebook as well, it's just not worth it anymore.

@mycelebs_elle It's because of quality of the users. Facebook is a dying platform, it still has many users, but being present on that platform is not as relevant as it was before, like let's say 10 years ago.
Same for Instagram, which is at its end.
As for Twitter, I feel like it always was just a platform for controversy and drama, and with its new owner, Elon Musk, it has gained some popularity back, for better or worse, but it still doesn't really matter, it's a platform without quality users in general.
Like everyone else who's commented - no. I also think it just devalues it. It used to be an actually useful way to find an authentic account for brands/notable figures. Now it's almost completely irrelevant.
I think it makes sense for businesses. It can help them grow an account fast, increase their engagement, and is a drop in the bucket in terms of their marketing budget.
However, I don't think it makes sense for personal accounts. Sharing life events with your friends and family shouldn't be affected by how much you pay per month. IG is already pretty bad. Lately when I scroll I mostly see ads and big meme account posts. I've missed significant "life update" posts from close friends. Once that scale is tipped, it's hard to get customer loyalty back. Already seeing it with Facebook.
There is no reason for it unless you run your drop shipping store on or some influencer business.
Meta verification doesn't show up for me. It only shows up when I request verification on Instagram. I've made a request, but I want to authenticate my account quickly because I'm sick and unable to move, and it's a source of income for me. Is there anyone here who can help me plz ??
