If Pinocchio says his nose is growing and its not, what happens?

If Pinocchio claims he's lying, his nose would enter an endless cycle of growing, shortening, and growing again, possibly resulting in a burning sensation from the friction. Eventually, it might even lead to setting him on fire. That's a tragic 'burnout' situation.
